Kapitel 16: First Day At Work

"You said your name was Thor?"

Inside Isabela's Diner, a beautiful woman with brown hair and brown eyes, asked the man sitting in front of her.

This woman is Dr. Jane Foster, an astrophysicist, who recently got acquainted with this blonde haired, God like man in front of her.

The previous day, she was traveling in her van with her colleague Erik Selvig and her assistant Darcy Lewis, when a mysterious weather event subject of her research, unexpectedly resulted in a powerful vortex before them.

As a result, they were not able to see through the storm clearly and Darcy, being the one driving the van, ended up crashing onto a stranger who came stumbling into their path; Jane being the innocent girl she was, had no hand in this whatsoever.

Upon realising that they hit someone, The three went out of their van in a panic to check whether this person was alive or not only to see a guy with blonde hair in quite a hammered state but still pretty much in an okay condition.

They still ended up taking him to the hospital though, as Jane's assistant Darcy, tazered him.

The following day, Darcy made a surprise discovery. She noticed the figure of a man in one of the photographic images captured from the previous day's event. This led Jane to set off for the hospital to find the blonde haired stranger, as she thought he must know something. Upon reaching the hospital, their van once again collided with someone and surprisingly, it was the same person as before and the guy they were looking for.

Currently, the trio were sitting inside a local diner with this same guy, who introduced himself as Thor, where Jane was trying to press him for more information regarding the things he told them, or more like, she heard him say.

So she decided to start her questioning by asking the most normal question she had on her mind.

"You said your name was Thor? As in, the Norse God of Thunder?" Jane asked while looking at Thor with curious eyes.

Thor after hearing Jane's question, looked at her and said with a charming smile

"Yes. That is my name."

After seeing Thor's smile, despite her best efforts to stay focused, Jane couldn't help but blush a little.

'Focus Jane. Focus!' She thought while blushing.

This scene didn't go unnoticed by her assistant and friend, Darcy Lewis.

Darcy is a student of political science at Culver University and became an intern for Erik Selvig and Jane Foster's assistant. Working as Jane's assistant for a while, Darcy could now say that Jane had become one of her closest friends. So seeing Jane's reaction to this guy's smile, Darcy couldn't hold back the knowing smirk from appearing on her face.

Seeing that they were just staring at each other's eyes without saying anything for a while now, Darcy decided to break the silence by saying

"Well then, Thor. How about we order something first? You said you were hungry right? C'mon Jane, you can ask the guy all the questions you have in your mind while we eat. He is not going anywhere." Darcy said while winking towards Jane in the end.

Jane after seeing her friend's antics and understanding what that wink implied, simply glared at her.

Just as they were having this talk, Erik Selvig was looking around for someone. Being the only one who didn't say anything for a while, he finally decided to join their conversation and said in an irritated tone of voice

"Where is Izzy? She is always here by now to take the order. She is nowhere in sight." Eric said while looking around for any signs of Izzy but found her nowhere.

Just as he said those words, the sound of breaking, or more like EXPLODING of glass resonated inside the diner, which made Jane, Darcy and even Thor, look towards the source of that sound to find Izzy talking with something shiny.

Or more like, their eyes only caught something shiny.

After a few moments of staring, the quartet finally understood what was happening and noticed that that shiny something was a bald head, which belonged to a guy who was currently getting scolded by Izzy for breaking a cup full of Cappuccino; At least, that's what it looked like to them.

"....."

"His head is shiny."

Darcy broke the silence by saying what was going through all of their minds.

"Jason, you dozed off again." Izzy said with a frustrated sigh while looking at her employee.

It has only been a few hours since she appointed Jason as a waiter at her diner.

Jason for his part, had surprisingly done a really good job till now and Izzy was satisfied with his work. The only problem though, was that Jason kept on getting lost in his own thoughts from time to time which led Izzy to do some of his work for him.

Izzy was pretty lenient with him though. Whenever she saw Jason being lost in his own little world, she would just call out to him and he would start doing his work again. Izzy got the idea that his attention span was not his best quality.

Just a few minutes ago, Jason once again started dozing off while looking at the paintings of fishes hanging on the walls which made Izzy call out to him again, but this time, he got surprised and ended up gripping the cup in his hand a bit too hard.

The resulting force of Jason's grip proved too much for the poor cup as it EXPLODED in his hand.

Seeing that Jason crushed the cup full of Cappuccino on his palm, Izzy was surprised. Her surprise was short-lived though, as she realised Jason might have injured his hand so she reached out to him and asked worriedly

"Is your hand alright?! If you hurt your hand then let me treat it first! There should be a first-aid kit down here." Izzy said while searching for the first-aid kit in the lower shelf of her working table.

Jason after seeing how worried Izzy got for his sake, looked at his hand to see it was completely fine. Just as he expected.

It felt like forever since he got hurt. Nowadays, He doesn't even feel the hits of the monsters back home who could flatten an entire building with their punches.

Jason just hoped he might find a better opponent here. An opponent who does not die with just one punch.

Seeing that Izzy was still looking for a first aid kit, Jason decided to quell her worries by presenting his hand to her.

"Don't worry about it. My hand is fine. Look." Jason said while showing his hand to Izzy which was in a perfectly normal state.

Izzy after seeing Jason's hand in front of her, grabbed his hand and started looking for any injuries on his palm. Finding no injuries whatsoever, she sighed in relief and said

"Thank god. I don't want you to get injured during your first day at work here. I am glad you are alright." Izzy said with a kind smile.

'She is a very kind woman.'

Jason thought while looking at Izzy and decided to do better in his job for her sake.

He was just thinking about this when he suddenly had a realisation.

A cup.

He broke a cup.

It was a cup full of Cappuccino.

The cost of a Cappuccino drink is about 5 dollars.

The cost of a cup is about, well, he doesn't know but it should be around 2-3 dollars.

He broke a cup full of Cappuccino drink which overall cost about 7 dollars.

Now, he needed to pay for that now broken cup as well as the drink which was inside it!

After realising this fact, Jason started sweating bullets.

It hasn't been that long since Jason got this job, so his previous mentality of a completely broke person didn't leave him yet. Seeing that there was no escape, Jason reluctantly opened his mouth and said in a nervous tone of voice

"About that cup that I broke? Uhm, You can cover its cost from my salary I guess. I just hope its not too expensive." Jason said the last part to himself with a dark look on his face.

Izzy after hearing Jason's words, smiled at him and said

"It's alright Jason. It was your first mistake so I will let this one slide, but I don't want you dozing off during work again." Izzy said in a kind as well as stern tone of voice.

'She is a Goddess!!' Jason thought to himself with a straight face.

Just as they were having this talk, Izzy finally noticed the four pair of eyes on them. Seeing that they have more customers waiting to give orders, Izzy motioned Jason to where they were seated and said

"Jason, we have customers. Go and take their orders first then you can have your break for today. Remember, don't doze off again." Izzy said in a stern tone of voice before getting back to work and Jason did the same.

Jason went towards the table where the four were seated and just as he was about to take their order, his eyes went towards the blonde haired guy among their group, or more like, the 'blonde hair' of the guy among their group.

Jason didn't know why, but at that moment he felt like life wasn't fair.

Pulling himself out of his thoughts so as not to upset Izzy, Jason opened his mouth and asked

"Your order please?"
