62.5% Hollywood Creed: 2nd Draft / Chapter 50: Contingency Vault

Kapitel 50: Contingency Vault

The executive group was left speechless as they looked at the Creed duo walk away and treated them as insignificant.

Just as they thought that it was the end of it. Sullivan made a pause to turn around and leave a question.

"Are you people sure you are smart enough to lead your companies?"

His words seem to echo in the cinema as they reverberated into their minds.

Their perfect plan, aggressive requests, overconfident demeanor, and uninvited entrance felt meaningless.

Sullivan's question would also serve to haunt them. Being called stupid may be trivial for others but for powerful people like them, it was a scar and stain that would never go away.

Being called stupid to their faces wasn't truly the issue. The problem was that they clearly did a stupid act that would top their list of stupidities.

Ovitz, also realized where they messed up, and finally joined their synchronized shame.

They'd have no place to show themselves if the confrontation was recorded by the media. They were fortunate at the circumstance... or were they really?

In all honesty, the Home Alone sequels are kept secret under a confidentiality agreement to stop the cast and crew from talking about spoilers.

Foiling the entire perfect takeover plan was just a bonus that comes from the secrecy.

The cast from Home Alone 1 was CAA's target and while the McAllister family was the one most subject to penalty clauses if they reveal anything.

Miss Megan is also at the start of her career and ruining the Home Alone surprise would do her no good.

The rest of society was also only exposed to Home Alone on November 16th, so the majors had no idea about the continuous filming that the crew had done.

Thus, the major studios were kept in the dark until now.

Alexander had to comment to them about attacking Home Alone though. Creed Films are on a steady momentum with earning movies after the other. If the best-selling Home Alone would continue its prowess, then the Creed brand would have a qualitative rise.

The theater companies are already favoring Creed Films above others due to their profitability. There may be thousands of theaters but that is the secret battlefield that movies have to overcome.

Having the best schedule and widespread release would mean more profits.

If Creed Films are always the top pick for theater chains, the majors would have to fight for the runner-up podium. Having majors in their moniker has to be defended.

-------

Taking the unbothered passage out of the place, the Creed duo got out without attracting the attention of the paparazzi and pesky reporters.

"That was quite the confrontation." Alexander murmured while they walked towards their car. "What if CAA does the same tactic to our planned movie series?"

"Haha! Then, we can just use other brokerage agencies." Sullivan laughed it off. "And even if the majors have the brokerage agencies on their side, then we'll just pick from the crowd. Perhaps we can even go lower on our low-cost movies."

Alexander hummed in agreement but there is still something that troubled him. "Since they found out that the entire Home Alone series is already complete, will they do something drastic with our copies?"

His worries were not unfounded as Hollywood filming studios have a knack for catching fire. George Lucas had to re-film some Star Wars scenes to recover.

As an outsider before, Alexander only considered those events as flaws in old-school engineering.

As an insider who saw the competitors' deviousness firsthand, arson seems to be just a tool in their competitive arsenal.

"Going for the film copy itself." Sullivan pondered at that. "I never considered that. The Disney vault really does exist and has its uses."

Alexander could only shake his head at the old Disney Vault joke. Anyways, he has already reminded his grandfather and contingencies should be in order.

The Home Alone sequels should be placed in some Creed vault that the old man is planning to have.

The non-digitalized films are the pain of this time. Every post-produced film is stocky and material. Which makes it as precious as diamonds in the eyes of filmmakers.

In the upcoming digital era, Alexander should already be a master at secret storage and hacking. Thumbsized drives that can contain a lot of films should already be a norm.

He could worry about the future when it becomes the present. As for now, the duo got into their car and drove off from the cinema.

The midnight screenings are set in place and the executives should be hurrying out of the place. Too bad for them, that they just had to arrogantly take the front entrance and be hounded by patient scoopers.

Alexander was smirking and had expectations on how those people would spin the night's confrontation to attract readers.

When Sullivan was driving towards a corner, Alexander caught a glimpse of trouble and pointedly said. "Grandpa, is that Miss Connelly?"

The old man busy with the roads caught sight of what his grandson meant and had to intervene. He was quick to stop the car and Alexander decided to be a hero for once and hollered out after opening the door. "Miss Connelly, your ride is here?! Also, should I call the cops on these people?!"

Jennifer saw the familiar boy from the movie premiere and finally found her saviors. Not delaying much, she ran to the Creeds' car and entered it.

Sullivan nodded at his grandson's quick thinking and drove off the car as soon as Miss Connelly closed the door.

What's left in that place are angered gossip journalists that wanted a catchy controversy from the actress. They wanted to catch up but the rescue was too timely for them to react.

"Are you alright, Miss Connelly?" Alexander was in the backseat together with Jennifer who was still calming herself.

"I-I'm fine now. Thank you very much, Mr. Creed, and uhm... Alexander."

She was used to going to premieres but it was too late for her to realize that the place was the unfamiliar San Fernando Valley. Thus, she got trapped by opportunistic tabloids before she could call for transportation.

Alexander could only shrug at her previous predicament and the irresponsibility of her agent.
