Sky was looking fine as usual. Black shirt, fitted pants, nice shoes, earrings on his nose and earlobe, and hair in a loose bun this time.
How come he didn't dress like a normal student? Did he think he was here to model or that this was a fashion parade? He seemed like the type to put too much effort into his looks. "How annoying." He muttered to himself.
"Who are those people?" Chris asked Rachel as he kept his gaze on the group who were trodding to the centre of the school cafeteria with a public address speaker and mic being carried by two guys in the front.
When he didn't get any answer, he turned to look at Rachel, who was staring at a certain someone with lovestruck eyes and quickly slapped her forehead gently, bringing her back to her senses.
"Who are those people?" He repeated.
"Student Council." She answered curtly and looked ahead.
"Why is Sky with them?"
"He is in the Student Council. The Director of Fitness."
Okay... that surprised him.
"What is that?"
"Director. Of fitness..." she repeated for his understanding.
"I heard you the first time. I have never heard of that before."
"He helps students, especially athletes, stay fit. He is in charge of the gym."
Quite interesting.
"Then why don't you go to the gym? You'll be closer to him. Isn't that what you want?" He asked curiously.
"You think everyone in this school hasn't thought about that?" She looked at him and asked.
"You heard the part where I said "especially athletes", right? It's useless for people like me. Athletes, overweight and underweight people are his concern. The school clinic gives a card to those who need to work on their BMI. That would help them enrol in the gym. Athletes are free to use it while the rest of us... nothing." She sighed in despair.
Chris continued to sip his juice and kept his eyes on the Sky, who was standing behind some guy with a mic, addressing all of them. He was saying some shit about keeping the school clean and whatever bullshit Chris wasn't interested in.
"Does he play sports?" He asked Rachel, who was also looking at Sky.
"He doesn't."
That surprised Chris, who looked at her at once. "He doesn't?"
That's... new. Someone like him should be playing sports. It was only normal. Only cliché.
"He doesn't. But..." she turned to him and smiled as she said, "He is in the school band. He drums."
"What. The. Hell!" Chris exclaimed, surprised.
"Can I get your attention?"
As soon as Chris heard Sky's voice in the mic, he turned to him, and so did every other person in the room, who began to cheer and clap.
Sky smiled as he looked at all of them while waiting for them to reduce the noise. His eyes found Chris, and he stared back and forth between him and Rachel before his attention went back to what he was there for.
"For the new students who don't know me, my name is S—"
"SATO!!!" The crowd yelled, causing him to break into a big smile as he tried to keep himself from laughing.
God, he's so fucking beautiful.
"Well, that's me. My name is Sky Sato. I'm the Director of Fitness."
They all began to clap, not giving him enough room to talk, so he waited until the noise stopped before he began to talk.
"Our attention has been drawn to the alarming rate of students trying to get access to the gym. Some even go as far as starving themselves too much or overfeeding themselves just so they can get a card from the clinic. Please, sweethearts, don't do that." He said in a pitiful voice and placed a hand on his chest.
"Awww!" The crowd cooed and looked at him with adoration in their eyes, making Chris scoff.
"As much as we would like to open the gym for everyone, you all know it's not possible for thousands of students to have access to the gym facility at the same time—"
"But it was included in the breakdown of our fees, wasn't it?" One boy interrupted in a rude tone.
"Who the fuck is that?"
"Are you crazy?"
"He must have lost his mind. Who the hell does he think he is?"
The rest of the crowd faced him while Sky tried to calm them down as he explained patiently.
"Please stop harassing him. He has every right to ask questions concerning this issue as it concerns him."
The crowd grew silent.
"And yes, you did pay for it. Unfortunately, it cannot be accessed and it's not within my power to grant you access to the place unless it is very necessary. Please understand. I beg of you."
He said it with a humble bow that just seemed to send the girls crazy at how adorable he was.
Sky raised his head slightly, and when his eyes locked with Chris', the corner of Sky's lips raised slowly in a smirk.
Chris could see why they all loved this asshole.
He could definitely see that.
What do you think about Sky?
"Who is she?" That was the question that greeted Chris as soon as he entered his room that evening. He hadn't expected Sky to be in, so he was a bit surprised to suddenly get a question thrown at him.
He looked at Sky, who was seated on his bed and busy doing God knows what on his laptop. He wasn't even looking at Chris at all. He was surprisingly dressed like he was off the stage and just wearing a large hoodie with the hood covering his hair and a pair of joggers.
"Who is whom?" Chris asked with disinterest as he went to sit on his bed and began to take off his shoes.
"That girl. Seen you twice with her. Didn't take you long, did it?" He asked, his attention still on his laptop.
Seen them twice?
Chris wondered before he remembered the first time he saw Sky in flesh. He had been with Rachel.
Still busy untying his shoes, he looked at Sky as he asked, "Isn't it a bit too early to be jealous?"
Sky's finger stopped moving on the keyboard, and he raised his head to look at Chris before he chuckled lightly. "Nicely played." He said with a nod before he returned to typing.
"Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be out as usual?" Chris asked him as he focused on his other shoe.
"Are you sending me out of my own bedroom?" Sky asked, sparing him a glance.
He shrugged and just stared at him, wondering what he was seriously working on.
"You looked like a saint today." Chris said to distract him and saw Sky's lip arch slightly.
"Maybe I am?"
Chris snorted. "It's difficult to tell if you are acting or just being your true self."
"Which do you think it is?" He asked, smiling. This time he put down his laptop and removed his hood, running his hand through his hair and pushing it to the back carelessly.
"I doubt that was your true self." Chris said with his intense gaze on him.
Okay, maybe he shouldn't be thinking about this, and it wasn't as though he was thinking about it. I mean, even if he didn't like Sky and even if he wasn't interested in guys at all, he would have still been curious about this. And what was he curious about? It was simple. He was yet to decide which of Sky's looks was better. The professional look outside? Or the casual one right now with messy hair? He also wasn't wearing either of his earrings.
Sky's chuckle brought him back to reality, and he frowned at him, wondering what was funny.
"You were checking me out."
Chris snorted. "You fucking wish."
"I don't like you swearing."
"Do I look like I care what you like?"
"You are so stubborn." He sighed in exhaustion.
"Just as much as you are annoying."
"I have never heard I was." Sky said, smiling.
"Well, now you know. And I don't lie." Chris said before laying his back flat on the bed.
"Aren't you going to shower?" Sky asked curiously.
"Why? Too eager to see me nude?" Chris turned to ask him, and that just made Sky laugh.
God, why did he have such a crazy smile?
"How were classes today?"
"Don't talk to me." He snapped at him, making Sky look at him curiously, wondering what he had done.
"I obviously don't want to see you nude. You just seem exhausted. That's why I asked."
"What?"
"Telling you to go shower. In case that's why you are suddenly pissed."
Chris almost laughed. Why was he reading meaning into everything?
Sky suddenly stood up and went to open his wardrobe, where he had his clothes neatly ironed and hung. He took out a shirt and pants before he bent to get his shoes.
Chris's eyes followed every movement and immediately looked away from him from the stupid guy that was trying to tempt him into having stupid thoughts.
His phone began to ring, and he hastily picked it up and saw it was his mother calling. He answered the call as he kept trying not to pay Sky any attention.
"You finally remember you have a son?" He said into the phone.
"I'm so sorry. Work was hectic. But I wanted to talk to you as soon as I was done with the pile of meetings. Your father extends his greetings. He sent you some money. Don't get into character and struggle too much."
"I will be fine. I am fine. School isn't that big of a deal."
"I know. But—"
"No buts, mum. Just trust me."
She sighed in resignation. "Okay. Fine. What about your roommate?"
"He is here."
As soon as he said that, Sky turned to look at him and raised a questioning brow.
"Nice. Let me speak with him." His mother said.
"What? Why?" Chris asked cautiously, sitting up.
"Just to get to know who my son is living with. Or you would prefer I do a background check?" She answered.
"You are so extra sometimes."
"Come on." She urged him.
He sighed before looking at Sky who was still staring at him with his hands folded across his chest.
"My mum wants to speak with you."
"Oh... cool." Sky stretched his hand to receive the phone, and Chris quickly put it on loud speaker so he would hear their conversation.
Sky didn't mind and went to sit on his bed across from Chris as he answered the phone.
"Hello, Mrs. Owen."
"Such a lovely voice. What's your name?" She asked in a delightful tone that made him chuckle.
"Sky Sato."
"And a lovely name too."
"Mum!" Chris said in warning tone that made his mother laugh.
"Please take good care of him. He can be extra sometimes, but don't blame him. He got it from me. You are free to call me anytime to tell on him or if something is going on." The woman said to Sky.
"You don't have to worry too much ma'am. He's in safe hands."
Chris's perverted eyes looked at his hands before he shook his head and looked away.
"That's nice to know. I can tell you are a very charming young man."
Sky laughed. "I don't think so, but I've heard it a couple of times."
Chris rolled his eyes and that just made Sky, who was watching him to grin.
"Haha! I like you already! Do you have a partner?"
"Mum!" This time, Chris was alarmed. He didn't want his mother to slip and say something she isn't supposed to.
"Well... it depends on who is asking." Sky said in a flirty tone that immediately got Chris up on his feet and snatched his phone from Sky and glared at him.
"I'm hanging up." He said into the phone before he pressed the end button.
"Your mother is funner than you." Sky said calmly.
"You aren't ashamed? Flirting with an older woman."
"Why should I be?" He asked with an innocent look.
"Yuck." Chris eyed him before going to fetch his things to bathe.
"I'll be sleeping out tonight." Sky informed him.
