Kapitel 50: Chapter 50: A Cat by the Fire

Dust and debris slowly floated through the air, leaving the group of friends stunned and coughing.

“The house is coming down,” Lewis said, his voice muffled as he covered his mouth with his sleeve. “We must get out.”

“Not until Caden is healed!” Edith insisted.

Caden, Miles, and Asher exchanged glances as the house rumbled and crumbled slowly around them.

“Why would the house be collapsing?” Lydia asked.

“It appeared when we first became…vampires,” Asher began smoothly.

Caden looked at the gaping hole in the house, “Perhaps it is falling because, one by one, vampires are leaving this place.”

The mortals looked at each other in skeptical confusion.

James spoke, “Do you mean, all vampires are gone? Either dead or cured?”

Miles laughed weakly, “There will always be vampires, but don’t fret, my friend. There will always be good to balance the evil in the world.”

A tiny piece of the ceiling fell innocently onto Judith’s dark hair.

“Let’s start,” Edith stepped towards Caden.
