Kapitel 10: Chapter 10: In the House of Byrne

Caden tilted his head back and cried out, revealing fangs that bears would even run from in fear.

Edith stood speechless. She tried to talk but her voice refused to be heard. Edith had never believed in the dark stories of old, but there, pacing in front of the fire, was a vampire. Caden ran his hands through his black hair and moaned painfully.

Finally she whispered, “You aren’t a monster to me.”

Edith’s heart pounded like a blacksmith’s hammer on an anvil. With thoughts whirling through her mind like a tornado, Edith stared at the sight before her. She could run. She could simply leave this place and never return, swearing to be silent and keep the secret til death… but she knew what she would do.

“I’m not leaving, Caden Byrne,” Edith said softly. “You see, I care for you too. Your secret is safe with me.”

Caden looked at the woman before him, tilting his head slightly to the side and giving a weak laugh.
