Kapitel 61: Chapter 61- Real Life Gamba
After picking up their sets of rocks, Long Ren called Li Han, the attendant. She took a quick peek at their basket of rocks and gasped a little, though she hid it quickly and brought them to the counter.
Long Ren laughed as he noticed her gasp, he and Yun Ning did pick up just a tiny amount of 100-ish rocks, from different price segments.
They only bought the Obsidian-Grey rocks variant. Buying different types seems redundant if it's all up to chance anyway.
All in all, after being counted, their total amounted to a meager 1 diamond and 21 gold coins. Long Ren bought a total of 25 rocks while Yun Ning bought 40. Some of their rocks ranged from the 50 gold ones, with a few 1s and 10s in between.
"What's the difference between the 50 gold and 1 gold rock?" Long Ren asked Li Han as they handed their payment.
Li Han's mouth twitched, 'You picked the most expensive one without even knowing why? These young masters sure have it easy…' She thought, almost coughing up blood, but held it in and explained,
"Their origins are different, the 50 gold ones are from discovered ancient lands and tombs while the 1 gold varies from the streets or even someone's backyards."
Long Ren and Yun Ning made an understanding expression. While Yun Ning did have experience gambling rocks before, it was actually only Diona buying the rocks and her opening them, so she isn't that informed on it as well.
"Do young master and miss wants to personally open them or shall we help?" Li Han asked.
"Do you want to?" Long Ren asked.
"Not really, it's actually annoying to do, really," Yun Ning said, shaking her head. Her first experience doesn't seem to etch a good picture for her. Long Ren nodded and asked them to do it for them, he wasn't interested in cutting rocks as well.
Li Han's mouth twitched, even more, seeing their absolute nonchalance towards 1 diamond worth of rocks, it's as if they didn't even care if all the rocks come out as absolute trash.
And she's right, Long Ren and Yun Ning does not care whether the rocks turned a profit or not, at best they'll get their money back, and at worst, they'll have some fun. As for getting lucky and opening something incredible, they're not that naive.
A male attendant soon appeared and did the cutting, doing his best to show performance to his customer, though, no matter how good he was, cutting rocks is cutting rocks.
The first rock went bust, only having crumbled dust inside. Due to the passage of time, only some valuables would survive, or if the technique the items were sealed with is of high grade, either way, it's quite rare for something to survive.
Even the 50 gold rocks only turned over dust, and the one that didn't only gave a small hairpin made of unknown materials.
Yun Ning observed the hairpin, bringing it near her eyes. Its color showed pale purple, indicating its age. A small black petal-shaped icon formed on one of its ends. Yun Ning touched the other end and it pricked her finger as drips of her blood dropped.
"This is pretty sharp, a shame its colour turned ugly," Yun Ning remarked, licking her finger clean and throwing the hairpin into her ring. Maybe Diona would know what it's made of, its material seemed quite good.
The surrounding watchers nodded in response to her remark, discussing among themself Long Ren and Yun Ning's findings as if they were their own.
'People here really don't have any other entertainment huh, go cultivate or sleep or something, geez,' Long Ren thought to himself. He found that people in this world have so much free time as they would join in on every possible entertainment they could find.
How peaceful.
In the end, 1 diamond worth of rocks, turned into 1 single ancient hairpin. The other findings won't even be worth more than 100 golds.
Long Ren and Yun Ning only shrugged at their losses, not feeling too much, yet the surroundings crowd showed them a look of pity and even disdain, whispering stupid "advices" such as
'They haven't learned our ways of weighing the rocks, how naive!'
'If I picked the rocks, with that much funds, I would've surely turned over a profit! Such a shame!'
'Bla Bla Bla,'

Long Ren shook his head and pinched his brows together while Yun Ning only smiled wryly, they really don't know what's in the crowd's mind to say such stupid things, and the worse part is that they need to hear their absolute stupidity.
"Let's just leave, I'll only be more annoyed if we stay," Long Ren said exasperatedly. He really couldn't deal with more of this smart crowd.
Yun Ning giggled seeing his tired look, although she didn't mind the crowd, she agreed with Long Ren that at some point, they will finally be annoyed.
"Let's leave then, the auction starts in 10," Yun Ning said, grabbing his hand once more and leading him away from the murmuring crowd.
Before they left, Yun Ning opened her ring and handed 10 gold each to Li Han and the cutter. "Here, thanks," and left the building.
Li Han and the cutter stood there, dumbfounded with the gold in their hands, and immediately stored them, that's a month's load of work!
They looked at the fleeting couple's back, or at least that's what they thought, as they saw them leaving while holding each other's hands intimately. A grateful and happy look appeared in their eyes.
'Serving nice young masters are really nice,' they both thought, praying this couple to come back soon,
