[Past]
A carriage trotted and stopped along a family cemetery. It was nighttime, and surely wasn't the best time to visit such a place, but Ava needed to investigate something.
"Thanks very much, Mr. Sam, I don't know how I would've gotten here." She thanked the coachman.
Nobody knows she departed the palace, except Marleen. She needed to look into a cynical issue, without capturing the attention of the palace or the council.
"I'll be right here, Miss Ava, just make sure to be quick, I've heard stories of the terrors here at night." Mr. Sam announced to Ava. She nodded her head and walked quickly into the graveyard.
The graveyard belongs to the Lambert family. The Royals.
She looks at the names on the tombstones, and the names all have one thing in common…
Seth.
That wasn't correct.
The Lamberts owned the graveyard, not Seth, it belongs to the Royals.
That only means one thing…
Dominus Lambert isn't a Royal!
"But..but how come he is king?" She asked herself, this was mystifying.
But that wasn't the prominent reason she visited the graveyard. She wished to know the real name of the first king of the Gograonia Empire.
She made a bet with Marleen, and she hated losing. The bet was simple;
If she can get the real name of the first king, the first among the pure-blood royals within 48 hours then she wins.
And if not, she losses.
The name of the first King on the Royals record book was Samson Seth. But upon further investigation, she discovered that wasn't the name, that was fake.
So now, she's set to find the real name.
Marleen seemed to know more about the Royals than anybody in the palace. The way she speaks and does things always seems to leave her stunned.
She strolled past many tombstones after checking the name and positions, there were many.
But thankfully, only the males were buried there.
After losing count of the tombstones she had noticed, she fell her butt to the ground. She was exhausted.
After surveying all the tombstones, she realized one thing.
One; None had the name Lambert on their tombstones.
Two; the first king wasn't buried at the Royals cemetery.
Thankfully, she has another day left before she losses the bet.
She stepped out of the cemetery and strided nearer to the coachman, Mr. Sam.
But she saw an ominous scene.
Mr. Sam was lying headless on the side of the carriage, his head missing as blood spilled out of his neck.
Her heart skipped a beat.
She slowly stepped backward in dread as she prepared to run. Whatever did that to Mr. Sam was nearby.
She silently stepped backward, but her back hit something and she snickered from fright. She turn around hastily and came face to face with a masked man.
She gasped and readied to run, only to miss her footsteps, and ended up falling to the ground. Seeing the masked man walking slowly towards her, she began crawling to get away from him.
"P.. please… who are y..you…?" Her voice quivered. Her heart was beating rapidly and she could hear it, she was sure the man could too.
The man didn't reply. But after a little while, he said, "Leave." His voice was almost inaudible, like a whisper.
She bobbed her head and stood up, she took a quick look at Mr. Sam, and then at the masked man…
But he was gone. Like he disappeared, in less than a second.
She quickly pushed herself up and went for Mr. Sam, tears streamed down her face as she thought of the family he had back home. He was a father of three children.
Upon closer look at Mr. Sam, she saw something that wasn't there before. Writing of two words; AA.
It was written on his back.
Whatever was used to write it must be very sharp, since blood was surging out of the written words.
Then suddenly, it started raining. The most confusing part was when she finally found herself in her room in the palace.
"How did I…what happened…?"
*knock* *knock*
The door opened and Marleen walked inside.
"So…Who was it?" Marleen inquired softly as she walked closer to her.
"Ava…" She raised her head and looked at Marleen, she noticed she was frightened. "You..you're covered I'm blood…" Marleen's voice trembled.
Covered in Blood?
No, she wasn't…
She glanced down at her body, only to find Marleen's words true. Her blue dress was stained with red color. Blood.
"Marleen, I swear I don't know how this came about, I wasn't even close to Mr. Sam when he was decapitated.."
"Wait…Mr. Sam is dead?" Marleen asked, she was shocked.
"Yes…" she replied quietly.
"Are you…"
"I assure you, Marleen, it wasn't me. I...I can't even hurt a mouse…"
Marleen took a deep breath. "Change quickly, the king wanted to see you." She announced to her.
This made Ava stare at Marleen in disbelief. "What? Why? Now? But..but it's night already, I bet all servants are already asleep by now." She grumbled.
"I don't know, he kept asking for you, and I kept on giving ridiculous excuses."
"Thanks." She said to Marleen. "I better go change now."
Marleen left after making sure Ava's nerves were calm, and Ava was thankful for that.

"You asked for me," Ava said with her head bent. She was currently inside the king's chamber. It was slightly dim inside the room.
"Blood." His word caught her off guard. She had made sure to wipe every ounce of blood stain on her, and she even applied deodorant.
Taking a sip from his glass, he replied. "A little Birdy told me you were searching for the name of the first king, why if I may ask?" His query alarmed her. Nobody knew this apart from Marleen, and Marleen wasn't one to rattle out someone.
"And oh, your little friend is also involved with you." He continued.
"We…Ummm… made a bet.." she cleared up her throat.
"And what's the bet about?" His voice was unusually deep.
"Oh ah, it's… it's nothing.." She tried to get rid of the subject, but he wasn't ready to drop it.
"The bet, Ava…" his voice was threatening.
With her face facing the ground, a blush crept into her cheeks. "Whoever loses the bet gets to tell her crush that she has a crush on him…" She became uncomfortable. She was in front of the king, and she was telling him about a crush.
He didn't reply for a short time, "So, your crush, who's he?" He asked, curiously. This made her red cheeks hot. She would never have imagined the always cold King was asking her such a personal question, well literally.
Knowing she couldn't lie to the king, she replied, truthfully. "It..it's Michael, Your Highness."
Then everywhere went still. She didn't know how possible it was, but it was.
After what seemed like centuries, he finally voiced out.
"The free time given to servants is becoming too much, so much that they have the time to have crushes." His eyes meet hers and she gulped softly, his eyes held anger… and hurt?
"No, no Your Highness, it's not like that…"
"But that's how it is." He said emotionlessly. "You should leave. Sleep early to gather energy for the work tomorrow, from tomorrow onward, no free time for you."
What did she do now??!
