Kapitel 20: Signal for help
Huyan Lanruo had noticed Alan's charm and was affected much more when compared to Ye Ziyun. But she controlled her emotions as she wanted Alan to initiate the conversation as usual.
But since it didn't occur, Huyan Lanruo was getting a bit anxious. She decided to bite the bullet and initiate the conversation with Alan.
Alan didn't respond for the first few times since it was truly a bad try. They were questions like, what he was up to these days and what was his cultivation rank.
Alan decided to reveal that he has Bronze Rank. This would be considered believable.

Alan ignored her and moved towards Ye Ziyun. He asked her, "So, what were you two talking about?" His question was clearly directed at Ye Ziyun and Nie Li.
"And why should we tell you?" Nie Li spoke with a hostile tone.
Ye Ziyun didn't understand why Nie Li was speaking to Alan in such a hostile tone. She explained with a smile, "Nie Li was just guiding me regarding inscription patterns. He is really skilled in it."
"Really? That's amazing," Alan spoke while glancing at Nie Li.
Nie Li frowned as he was annoyed that Ye Ziyun answered to Alan like that. But he soon understood that her favorable impression of Alan was much deeper than he imagined, and he had to deal with it accordingly.
"Whatever," Nie Li muttered.
"Ye Ziyun, did you mention this trip to your father?" Alan asked.
A melancholic look appeared on Ye Ziyun's face as she responded, "…My father rarely talks to me, so I didn't have the opportunity to inform him about this."
"Really? That's the same for me," Alan quickly spoke. Ye Ziyun seemed slightly surprised to hear those words meanwhile, Nie Li visible sneered in his direction.
"Don't look so surprised. My father is in seclusion and is cultivating most of the times since he wishes to become a Legend Rank Demon Spiritualist. Moreover, he gives all his attention to my elder brother and training him to become the next patriarch of the Sacred Family. This was actually a half-lie. Shen Hong did ignore Shen Yue quite a bit, but not to this extent. Alan actually recited his experience from his previous life.
When he was young, Alan indeed tried to do his best to please his parents and gain their praise.
However, Ye Ziyun perfectly empathized with Alan and spoke, "Wow. You are speaking exactly what I have been keeping in my mind all these years."

Nie Li remained silent during their entire conversation. He was staring at Alan with a thoughtful look on his face.
Soon, Huyan Lanruo joined their group.
"Hello. Can I join you three?" She asked rather politely, but her actions were contradicted her tone.
"You are?" Nie Li asked while staring at her.
"I am Huyan Lanruo, Young Master Chen's friend and I am from Huyan Family," Huyan Lanruo introduced herself to Nie Li.
Nie Li calmly responded, "Nice to meet you, I am Nie Li." He started analyzing the woman ahead of him according to his previous life's memories.
"…You have come to annoy me here too?" Suddenly, Alan spoke with an irritated tone. His reaction was understandable since he came to talk to Ye Ziyun to get away from this woman.
Huyan Lanruo chuckled in response while speaking, "Shen Yue, how can you say that? Big sis just wants to talk to you. You have changed so much since the last time I saw you."
Alan soon glanced in Ye Ziyun's direction and sent her a signal for help through his eyes. Ye Ziyun understood that signal and turned towards Huyan Lanruo while speaking for Alan, "Why do you keep annoying him? Shen Yue doesn't want to talk to you!"
"Really? And who are you to speak for him? Do you like him?" Huyan Lanruo asked while rolling her eyes.
"I…I don't like him!" Ye Ziyun stammered for a second as she spoke that statement.
Nie Li's eyes widened slightly. Ye Ziyun seemed hesitant to say that she didn't like Shen Yue.
"Don't speak to her like that. She is my good friend," Alan suddenly spoke. He wanted to use this opportunity to close the distance between their relationship.
"Hmph," Huyan Lanruo didn't seem happy upon seeing Alan speak up for Ye Ziyun. But she remained silent and didn't go against him.
Soon, Alan walked away, and Huyan Lanruo followed behind him. Nie Li and Ye Ziyun were left alone.
Nie Li's mind was still disturbed by what had occurred earlier so he couldn't start a conversation with Ye Ziyun. And the situation was similar for Ye Ziyun. She didn't start any conversation with Nie Li.
Alan successfully foiled Nie Li's attempt of getting closer to Ye Ziyun.
He had anticipated this result before even coming over to talk to Ye Ziyun. The only gamble was whether Huyan Lanruo would follow after him to Ye Ziyun or not. And Alan's answer to that issue was to stay together with Ye Ziyun until Huyan Lanruo arrived.
Alan gained nearly 3000 Celestial Points from that escapade. Soon, Zila informed him, 'Master, there is a Fox Bear Demon Beast's territory on this path.'
"What is its cultivation?"
'It's a Silver Rank Demon Beast. It won't be a threat to you, master,' Zila responded.
"True. But it will be a threat to this group," Alan whispered with a devilish smile on his face.
