She was about to protest, but he stopped her. "You have already done enough. It is time for you to do other things than waste them all on me."

She could not help but wonder if it was a genuine concern for her welfare or if the Count had grown tired of her nagging presence.

"Are you already trying to get rid of me?" She teasingly asked the Count as she placed the book on the side table.

The Count could be stubborn a few times, but she would not take no for an answer either.
