Gina slowly opened her eyes. The sunlight flashed from the vents hit her eyelids, making her to squint.
For a moment her subconscious tried to adapt to reality.
"Gosh darn! What time is it?" she asked herself.
Gina rolled out of bed and reached for her phone. The time was eight o'clock in the morning. She appeared to have forgotten to set the alarm the night before.
Furthermore, she was super excited about the first day of school. Not to mention the SMS from Zeryon Drax, which made her heart flutter, and caused her to sleep late.
She checked the calls and discovered a dozen missed calls from Yesiba and Bryn.
"Ugh, Modesty, why didn't you wake me up?"
Modesty was no longer in her bed. It could be predicted that she had already left for school. She usually gets ready before eight o'clock.
The young woman immediately jumped into the bathroom to clean up. Then she put on a white floral dress.
She combed her golden blonde hair and tied it up. After that, she took a scraf and wrapped it around her neck. It's not windy, but she was just used to covering it as her mother always ordered. She seemed to dislike her birthmark.
She turned around a few times, then her hand grabbed the bag on the table.
There were no time to get breakfast, she went straight to the San Frabscisco Art Academy.
Gina quickened her steps. Her eyes kept glancing to the clock on her hand. She had to get to campus at half past nine.
Seeing the guards almost closed the gate, she ran straight through it, then she paused to catch her breath.
"Hah, I did it," Gina said, coughing a little.
Gina took a map of the campus from her bag and she looked for the music class.
She continued down the corridor, past concrete pillars adorned with statues and classic lamps adorning the ceiling.
She eventually arrived at the music building next to the painting classes.
Several students could be seen squeezing in front of the room. She went straight to her class.
Her footsteps stopped at a copper-brown room. She saw a familiar slanted-eyed girl standing by the window, reading the book in her hand. She came straight to her.
"Are you Emelle Lee, right?" Gina asked without hesitation.
The young woman with slanted eyes raised her head and said, "Yes. "How do you know..." she seemed to think for a moment, "Oh you're the girl who was defending me, right?" she continued.
Gina nodded and commented, "Yes, I remember you with that fashionista girl."
"Kalea Sinkler?" Emelle frowned.
"Yeah, that's her maybe. I don't really recall it."
"Yeah, Kalea majored in fashion. So she's not with me at the moment."
"So you take music major?"
"Yes."
"That's nice! We'll be classmates then. Oh, by the way I'm Gina Blitz." Gina held out her hand to Emelle.
"Emelle Lee. Nice to meet you." Emelle greeted Gina.
Meanwhile they are getting to know each other, a woman with pointy glasses in her thirties stepped closer to the class.
"Is that our teacher?" Gina asked.
"I think so, let's go in!" Emelle responded.
Without thinking much, Gina followed Emelle's steps into the classroom. They sat in the front row.
The woman in the glowing blue blazer took her position at the front of the class.
"Good morning all!"
"Morning!" the students answered.
"I'm Seloda Ward, your music teacher and homeroom teacher."
The curly blonde haired woman walked towards the middle of the classroom. Then ask one of the students to distribute the text book to all students.
After that the teacher asked each student to introduce themselves.
After the introduction, Meloda immediately gave the subject matter.
"Open your book, please. Today we will learn about the classics song."
A book with a cover of woman in Victorian dress holding a jaw harp, was placed on the table. Gina grabbed it, then opened it.
"On the first page you can see a list of classic songs from various composers, both famous and not," Meloda said.
Gina took a quick glance at the list.
"In the first place is a very ancient song. It was created in 1776 during the reign of the Spanish Empire. This song is called the summoning song," the teacher explained.
Meloda returned to her desk, then she began to sing the verse of the classic song.
"Wake up in the middle of night
We will have party under the starlight
The warm blood fills the cold heart
Every souls shall lost in the song art."
The whole class fell silent hearing the song. Gina also got goosebumps. The song is beautiful, but scary at the same time.
Gina turned the pages of the book, her gaze fixed on a familiar song lyric.
"Any questions?" Meloda asked the students.
Gina raised her hands.
"Yes, you..." The teacher pointed at the young woman. "What is your question?"
"What song is on the next page? And what is the story behind it?" Gina inquired.
"Well, I was about to go there. Let me explain it now. So this song was created in 1849. Immigrants suddenly flooded the city of San Francisco. Thousands of people came in a week. The city is experiencing a massive growth."
Gina looked back at her book. The title was "The Forgotten Song".
"Let me teach you all the notes."
Meloda started to sing the song. The tones were so familiar to Gina's ears. Like reminding Gina of the past. However, her memory was not very clear.
"Hello, Miss Blitz. Please pay attention to the class!"
Gina snapped out of her daydream, then spontaneously answered, "I do, Ma'am."
"Really? Then sing the song that I've just taught now."
Gina started to close her eyes and sing the Forgotten Song. Her voice was very beautiful.
"The darkness begins to creep in
The lost souls will be resurrected again
I'm restless in loneliness
Come with me, oh, the helpless
The night gives the hope in the sky
The cold wind will take you fly."
For some reason the hairs on the back of her neck suddenly felt goosebumps and she felt the wind on her face again.
