Kapitel 18: Chapter 18 - HE WATCHES HER SECRETLY

"Yeah, he told me that. Of course, I was surprised, Ashley! How can I calm down even though he's so far away from me?"

"Hmm... looks like he really regrets what he did. Don't you see any signs of that?"

Becca sighed as she sipped her beer. She nodded her head. "I saw it. But it felt too fast. I didn't think it would be this fast!"

"Well, since he doesn't have any other girls and the only girl he sees every day is you, his ex-girlfriend. How could he not fall in love with you again?" Ashley explained.

Ashley's words were true. She held her forehead thinking that at this moment, Tommy might forget what he said because he might have another girl there beside him.

Her mind started to mess up because she thought the bad over the good. "You're right. Even now he could have friends sleeping there. We never know, right?"

Ashley showed a guilty face as her friend replied. She stroked her arm and said, "Oh, Honey, I didn't mean to overthink you. I just thought that's how men are."

But Becca shook her head. "No, you're not wrong. Men always play with logic rather than feelings, so I agree with you."

Becca downed her beer. She started to get frustrated when she checked her cellphone which didn't have any notification from Tommy.

What is he doing?

Does he miss me?

Is he okay?

Several questions continuously filled her brain, hoping her ex-boyfriend would give her news soon.

And just when she was tired of waiting and hoping her phone would show Tommy's name on the screen, she turned it off.

"It's better this way," she said to herself.

She glanced at her watch and saw that it was already time to go home. Luckily she wasn't drunk. So she could go home and buy her late dinner at the Subway.

"I have to go home," Becca said to Ashley.

"Alright. Are you okay driving alone?"

Becca nodded. "I am. Thank you, Ashley. See you again!"

Getting into the car which was the car Tommy used to drive, Becca looked around. There were still her things in the car which Tommy had not moved at all.

She sighed. Take off her high heels and replace them with her flat shoes which were always available in the car.

When she got to Subway she ordered a Chicken Breast Salad and a VegiMax Patty Sub. She didn't order a drink because she would just eat it at the apartment considering it was already so late.

When she arrived at the apartment, it was only then that she turned on her cell phone. She ate the Subway food she had bought while waiting for her cellphone to turn on perfectly.

Becca was immediately surprised when she saw that many notifications appeared on her cellphone. Specifically messages from Tommy and missed calls from him.

She immediately felt relieved to know that Tommy was worried about her. She smiled while enjoying her food while reading one by one his messages.

***

The message was sent. But there was not a single reply from her that he expected.

When he got word from his men that Becca had just arrived at the apartment, he hoped that Becca would reply to his message.

"Damn it!" he cursed. He gulped down his drink, staring at his cellphone screen glued, and still no news coming back.

"I'll call her!"

And he tried to call her. Calls connected but not picked up by Becca.

"C'mon, Bec... pick up the call!" he hoped.

"What? You're disturbing my night, you know?!" said Becca who finally answered the call.

Tommy smiled at her voice.

"If you're admiring my voice, then I'll hang up on you," Becca threatened.

"No, don't!" shouted Tommy.

He could hear Becca taking a deep breath. Tommy immediately looked for a topic so that Becca wouldn't turn off the call.

"Why did you just come home?" asked Tommy.

"What? How do you know?"

"I installed surveillance cameras in the apartment. So I know what you're doing," Tommy lied.

He was sure that Becca was looking in various directions to make sure Tommy's words were true.

"You're lying! There aren't any cameras here!"

"Well, no matter how small you can't see it. Only I can see, Rebecca. Because I put it up."

Becca felt cared for even though what Tommy actually said wasn't true. She bit her fingernails and her eyes still scanned her surroundings.

"You're looking around you. Confirming, aren't you?" asked Tommy. Even though he was just talking nonsense, but his words really showed the truth.

"Damn you! If you really know what I'm doing, don't call me!" cried Becca. She immediately hung up the call arbitrarily, placing her phone on the table in annoyance.

She rubbed her face and chose to continue her unfinished meal.

Meanwhile, Tommy chuckled. He smiled happily because he managed to prank Becca. He even managed to get really confident when he talked to Becca. So when he cornered her, he felt like his plan was working.

Becca's cell phone rang again but this time it wasn't Tommy who called her. But Paige, her ex-best friend. Yeah... she had decided not to make Paige her best friend anymore. She couldn't believe her anymore.

Becca answered the call and turned on the loudspeaker.

"Hi, Becca. Can we talk? I'm in front of your apartment building."

Becca's eyes widened in shock. Paige was already in front of her apartment building and she couldn't avoid her even though she could have given a good reason.

"Okay."

She hung up the call and immediately came back out in her coat. She put her hands in her coat pockets as she saw Paige waiting for her.

"Do you want to go to the cafe next door?" asked Paige.

"What do you want to say again?" Becca asked.

"I can't just sit there without hearing you sincerely forgive me, Bec. I feel like my guilt is haunting me."

And while Tommy's men were still monitoring Becca, one of them immediately contacted Tommy.

"Yes, Boss. She is with Miss Paige now."

"Let them," said Tommy. "And keep watching Rebecca until she comes back to the apartment."
