When Blake heard Vera's words, He thought that he had messed up.

"But seeing those souls that probably had a sweet taste to them just laid there without being touched, I just can't help but think about them first."

Blake quickly explained as he was afraid that Vera thought he was undermining her spell and not paying attention to the explanations that she gave him.
