Kapitel 43: Planning A New Spell

Blake gulped his saliva as he saw the purple goo literally melting the ground below it.

It now made sense to him how the dark earth armor that Robus wore could be missing a large chunk on his shoulders.

It was probably due to Robus being caught off-guard by the creature's bloodline power and he failed to completely dodge the attack, resulting in his left shoulder being hit by the purple goo.

When Blake saw how strong the purple goo was, a thought came across his head.

'If I had an attack that was strong enough to melt dark earth armor in one attack and if I had used that attack as my first attack against the crow, then I could probably end the fight in just a few minutes. Hell, I could even end it in one hit if that purple goo hit the crow's head and melt the crow's brain.'

The thought had occurred to him earlier how he didn't have a spell that could bring down his opponents in a single attack.

But now that he had seen such an attack happening with his own two eyes, Blake couldn't help but wonder how much stronger he would be if he had an attack that packed that much power.

'Maybe I could make a covenant with that komodo dragon to have its bloodline power…' Blake thought as he tried to think of ways for himself to get a powerful single attack spell.

'Is it a poison element? Or an acid element? The purple color suggests poison, but it acts like a very potent acid that was even capable of melting grounds… Whatever it is, I think it will be useful for me if I also have that affinity…' Blake began thinking hard about it.

From what he understands from his bloodline power, he would be able to get the bloodline power of other creatures and also their elemental affinity if he made a covenant with them.

But there's also (⅓) sign at the back of the system's description, and Blake had also confirmed it with the system, that his bloodline power had limits.

Blake couldn't just go around running everywhere to make covenants with all the creatures that he met along the way. Currently, he was only able to make covenants with other creatures. He should put a lot of thought and consideration into it to not waste the chance and opportunity that he got.

The first one he made with Robus was more of a sentimental reason and Blake didn't regret making that decision since the gorilla had been a very great company for him.

Furthermore, Robus' bloodline power gave Blake the protection that a demon mage that focused on spell casting lacked while also giving him the earth affinity so that he could cast earth elemental spells.

However, Blake didn't plan on just making his next covenants solely for sentimental reasons. Now that he knew how beneficial the covenants could be for him, he was aware that he should choose the demon that would give the most benefits if he were to make a covenant with the said demon.

And when he thought about making a covenant with the komodo dragon, Blake didn't find it smart to make a covenant with the creature just because he wanted a powerful single attack spell.

He was sure that there would be a way for him to do it with the current plethora of spells that he got in his arsenal. He just hadn't thought about it yet.

In terms of his spells, Blake already has a spell that was capable of showing a level of destructiveness as the crow's wind tornado that literally marred a sizable chunk of the forest.

It was the myriad of darkness tendril spells. If he put enough nether into it, then Blake would even be able to cause the same level or more destruction compared to the wind tornado.

And with his current spirit stat, Blake was pretty confident that he could most likely summon almost a thousand darkness tendrils, which was still far from its actual name, myriad, but it was still incomparable to the other darkness tendril spells that could only summon tens or dozens of darkness tendrils.

Just imagine a thousand darkness tendrils popping out of the ground everywhere and stabbing into everything they ran into.

Blake was confident to say that he would also be able to uproot trees and level grounds just like how the wind tornado did.

However, the problem with that spell was that it was too unstable.

If Blake wanted to control it to achieve the best result for using that spell, he needed to use the marking spell, which means that Blake couldn't use the spell for a surprise attack that only had a small time window.

He needed something, a spell that could produce one swift and powerful attack that had the potential to defeat his enemy in one move.

But so far, Blake hadn't succeeded in coming up with such spells using the darkness element.

The closest thing to an instantaneous spell that packed quite a punch that Blake knew was the darkness bullet spell where the darkness element was packed into a ball as dense as possible.

In theory, it would be possible to make the darkness bullet stronger simply just by pouring more nether into the bundle of darkness elements and making it denser.

However, just as how Blake couldn't simply put more nether into the original first realm darkness binding spell to summon hundreds of darkness tendrils and only limited to dozens, the darkness bullet spell also has its limit.

Which means that if Blake wanted a powerful single target spell, he had to create one on his own.

*CRACK*

Blake's train of thoughts was suddenly interrupted as a resounding crack was suddenly heard from the place where Robus and the komodo dragon fought.

When Blake turned his head to see what had happened, he could only nod in understanding as Robus had put the komodo dragon in a position very similar to a rear naked choke, rendering the komodo dragon unable to fight back.

And the cracking sound was produced from the komodo dragon's neck breaking due to being squished real hard by an insanely strong gorilla with his unimaginably tough armor.

Seeing the lifeless komodo dragon and the gorilla that was responsible for defeating it, Blake currently only had one question in his head,

'Who taught this gorilla wrestling?'

Kapitel 44: Holding Back His Urge

With its neck crushed into pieces, the komodo dragon soon went limp as a dark orb appeared from the middle of the komodo dragon's body.

And Blake, who had been killing demons ever since the first day he arrived into the demon realm, of course, knew that the dark orb was none other than a soul.

But why did he stare at it so intently as if he had never seen such a thing?

Even his heart rate slightly increased when he saw the soul appearing out of the komodo dragon's body.

Blake gulped down the saliva that had mysteriously gathered in his mouth as he shook his head a couple of times before slapping his own cheeks.

'No Blake! Robus was the one who killed it, it's Robus' soul!' He said to himself.

Yes, the reason Blake was practically staring holes at the soul was that he had instantly started imagining the taste of the komodo dragon's soul if he were to eat it.

He knew the komodo dragon was a strong demon and the chance for it to be at least as good as the crow's soul was high.

And just imagining the soul going into his stomach and the savory and delightful sensation returning to his body, Blake had to consciously remind himself that he shouldn't want to eat the soul because Robus was the one who had worked hard to kill the beast.

Fortunately, Blake didn't have to hold himself back for long as Robus quickly ate the soul and removed it from Blake's vision.

And when the soul finally went out of Blake's eyes, Blake was able to calm himself down even further before completely erasing the surging urge that filled his mind earlier.

Blake shook his head a couple more times to make sure that the urge had completely gone out of his system before jumping closer to the huge gorilla that had just won his fight.

"Hey, you completely destroyed that thing, but what took you so long? I fought mine for more than half an hour and you're still not done." Blake asked when he just landed a few feet away from the gorilla.

Robus had felt the connection that he had with Blake had gotten stronger for quite some time, and he felt it even more after he finished the fight, hence he wasn't startled when Blake suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

"Rrr??rrr." (Hour? What is that? But I don't fight for long, I just got here some time ago and quickly fought the annoying lizard."

Blake realized that the concept of time was still confusing for the gorilla and just skipped the explaining part before he continued speaking.

"Really? It's really been a while since we split up, but I was able to defeat the huge bird and then come here to watch you fight."

"rrr…" (The annoying lizard is hard to find, I can't remember where we met that thing last time…)

'Ah… that explains it… I forget how useful my memory is for a lot of other things other than just memorizing runes…' Blake scratched the back of his head.

His photographic memory had been such a normal and usual thing for him that Blake forgot that most other people couldn't remember the detail of things that they've seen only once or twice.

And especially so for the gorilla that had just started fluently speaking with him about a week ago.

He still didn't know whether the covenant really affected Robus' intelligence or not, but the fact that he could now converse so well with the gorilla that used to be so simple-minded before might be a sign that he couldn't ignore.

However, since it wasn't a problem or anything urgent that he should solve immediately, Blake decided to just be grateful that he got another talking companion besides Vera.

Staring at the komodo dragon's corpse, Blake turned to the gorilla "You are not gonna eat that?"

"r. Rrr" (No. As I've said, I like the fruits better.) Robus shook his head.

Blake had been curious about it ever since he saw the boars eating the wolves even though he remembered that the boars back on earth mostly eat fruits, nuts, mushrooms, and other plants.

For the past week, the two of them had been hunting all kinds of beasts. From the usual boars and wolves to the not-so-small demonic birds that had the same size as those boars, he had never seen Robus eat any of them.

He thought it was because of the same reason that Robus gave most of those souls that they hunted together for him because those beasts were weak.

But seeing that he still refuses to eat the komodo dragon that could be said to be his match if not for the dark earth armor giving him superior protection compared to the other gorilla, Blake now understood that the gorilla who had huge muscles and was able to destroy things with his bare fists was in fact, vegan.

And knowing that the komodo dragon's body would probably be put to waste, Blake wanted to also bring it back home and try its meat to see whether stronger beast meat would also mean higher quality and tastier meat.

But the crow had taken most of the space of the dimensional pouch and he couldn't take the komodo dragon.

And between choosing chicken wings and unknown komodo dragon meat, of course, Blake chose the former without much deliberation.

After some more chatting between the two, they then decided to go back home.

Blake jumped on top of Robus' back and patted his shoulder twice, "Let's go back!"

Then with large strides and sometimes jumping here and there, the two creatures made their way back to their homes.

Back at the part of the forest where the fruits that Robus liked to eat were abundant, Blake jumped off Robus' back and said goodbye to the demonic beast that also went back to its own territory.

Just like how the huge crow and the imposing komodo dragon had their own territory where they hunt their food, Robus, being one of such creatures that held as much, or even more power than those two beasts, of course, had his own territory.

And not so surprisingly, his territory was the part where the fruits that he and the boars liked to eat very much were abundant in amount, incomparable to the other parts of the forest that they had been through so far.

And as there might be intruders who go into his territory when he went on his journey with Blake, Robus left quickly after saying his goodbyes to Blake and did a sweep of his territory.

Blake then took out the clock that Vera gave him and saw that it was about 11 at night.

He was quite disappointed that he couldn't cook Vera dinner today as it was already way past the usual time that he returned back home.

But he had already told Vera that he might be back later than usual today since he and Robus would be fighting those strong creatures that lived quite far away from home, so she didn't have to worry about him.

Blake wanted to test out some spells and plan out a new original spell for the powerful single target attack spell, but seeing that it was supposedly nighttime even though there was no nighttime or daytime with the red sun hanging still in the sky above.

Blake decided to get a good night's sleep first to rest his mind as he knew that he would be racking his brain starting from tomorrow morning.
