Serena paused with Charlton's question. Was it only because of gratefulness that she chose to stay with Geoffrey? Did she mistake her gratefulness towards him as love? No. Although the primary reason she married him was because he became her saving grace, during their marriage, she had been happy with him. Geoffrey loved her and she loved him too. She shook her head.
"I would be lying if I say that I didn't love him. Yes, I am grateful to him, but the 4 years we spent together have been real." she confessed. "Charlton, the truth is, I loved Geoffrey. However, as you know, as you can see, that love did not, could not, and would not flourish. I lied to him, and by heaven's wrath, I have been punished by losing our child."
"If you're saying that the child you were carrying then was mine, what did you plan on doing upon giving birth?" Charlton asked.
Don’t feel too bad for Serena just yet, at least right now, she’s living in her fantasy and is very happy and content. Anyhow, how did you find this chapter? The first part, I don’t know if it’s just me who has been tearing up like an idiot. How did you feel? Just curious if I’m doing this right. As always, thanks for reading!
