60% Grymuar Kingdom / Chapter 14: Survive

Kapitel 14: Survive

Aron, sitting by the fire, looked at the grymuar.

The mission said he should not learn the meditation technique from the magister's book, but he no longer knew what options were left for him.

After destroying the nearby goblin settlement, he obtained fourteen small mana crystals. With these crystals, he could finally teach one of his subjects an iron technique.

He chose Bron, who was very good at dealing with goblins without any aura technique.

After placing most of his crystals on the book, a scroll appeared in the young man's hand.

Dense smoke was rising from the peninsula; his men should be back at any moment. The hare was also practically ready.

The three of them slowly approached the tent and the fireplace. In their hands, they carried the bronze tools obtained from goblins.

"Sit down and eat. You deserve some rest and hot meat." Aron said.

After a while, everyone sat by the fire and ate enthusiastically.

"Any wounds?" Aron asked, looking at his subjects.

"Yes, Lord, but to me, it's just a scratch," Gil replied with a smile.

Though both he and Bil were not natural warriors, they were able to kill a few goblins in their last clash. Bron was the most helpful, as he killed almost as many as Aron did.

"Bron, I have something for you."

The young knight drew his old jagged bronze sword and a magical scroll that allowed anyone to learn the technique of aura.

"Take this sword and this aura technique. I want you to be my squire and, in the future, a knight. "

Bron immediately knelt in front of the young man.

"But my lord, I am not worthy."

"Get up, take that sword, tear the scroll. I need a strong warrior, and I need one fast."

Bron grabbed the sword with Aron's old belt on it. He girded himself with it and tore the scroll, which immediately disappeared.

"Okay, now I need you to get some sleep. Hear my first charge; you must reach the bronze novice level by noon tomorrow."

"Yes, sir!"

Bron responded, hitting his chest with renewed commitment.

Apart from Bron, the three of them were on duty shifts at night. When it was dawn, Bron was practicing the aura technique and postures with a sword and a shield.

The young knight, not knowing what to do for the rest of the time, decided to prepare for the worst.

"Bil, Gil, take all the logs and put them around the fire and the tent. We have to build a makeshift wall. "

After a few hours, three men built a simple log barricade one and a half meters high. It was a simple structure, only four meters by four meters. Inside there was a small tent and three horses, so there was little space.

Before noon, a little tired of carrying a bale, Aron stood at the small entrance that could be blocked at any moment. The rest sat in the shadow of the walls of the structure.

The countdown timer on the mission page was finishing. When it finally showed zero, nothing happened. For a moment, the young knight thought they would miss their punishment. But he still had a new iron sword in his hand.

Then he saw it, in the forest, many portals began to appear. The four of them were ready to defend the walls next to them.

Aron grabbed one of the spears. Next, he kicked off the bars to block the only entrance. The walls still had small holes left to fit spears into them to fight creatures outside.

When the rest saw the Lord's behavior, they knew the situation was not very good. From the evening on, they felt the tension from their master and followed his orders without question. Bron managed to reach the level of a beginner bronze aura. So the number of warriors had doubled.

Suddenly there was a sound in Aron's head, and a book appeared in front of him.

[Ding Ding Ding]

[You have failed to complete your task.]

[Current Objective: Survive]

[Wave one of two: 40/40 hungry wolves]

[Depending on how you do, you will face more penalties or rewards.]

"How many?!?!?!"

The young knight shouted. Meanwhile, a howl began to sound from the woods.

The young knight came out on the structure wall, and the rest did the same. Everyone was armed with spears and ready to fight off any attack.

However, the number of wolves running toward the hill was nerve-wracking.

After a few moments, the first wolves reached the structure and hit it with great force, shaking the barrier. Aron and the rest of them began to stab the approaching wolves as a single unit, but after a while, they had to separate because the wolves were attacking from all sides.

Thrust after thrust, more and more wolves were dying. On Aron's side, one of the wolves used the corpses of his companions like a ramp. He leaped into the air, trying to clear the wall. However, the only thing that awaited him was the sword's thrust into the gaping mouth.

[10/40]

"Folks, there are only a few left! We can do it!" One of Aron's subjects shouted.

Aron tried to keep his cool, for he knew it was only the first wave.

After a few moments, the structure was bathed in wolf's blood. Were it not for the building, the position would've been untenable.

[0/40]

[Congratulations, you managed to survive the first wave without suffering any losses!]

[Five minutes to start the second wave]

"Catch your breath, drink some water and rest a bit; it's not over yet!" Aron shouted.

The rest sat down, panting, leaning against the walls. The frightened horses inside still screamed. The midday sun warmed the heads of the defenders. As soon as 5 minutes had passed, the book opened again.

[Current Objective: Survive]

[Second wave: 20/20 hungry wolves, 5/5 wolves, 5/5 goblins]

Although the second wave was ten opponents smaller, that did not mean it was easier.

Five goblins riding wolves emerged from the forest. The goblins were armed with spears with stone ends. Another twenty hungry wolves followed in their tracks.

The ravenous wolves now attacked more closely along with the goblins. The first started attacking the weaker parts of the structure.

Aron had to think of something. If the situation lasted much longer, everyone present would die. He glanced out of the corner of his eye at the horses inside. Inside, they had a gelding and a black horse tied to a post. Now they might be of use to him.

"Bron, on my signal, you will open the entrance, and as soon as I leave, you will stand in it with a shield and block everything that wants to enter."

"Okay!"

"Let nothing enter!"

Bron immediately stopped at the entrance, drew his sword, and began striking through the cracks with the blade.

The other two were also not in a very good situation. They barely pushed the wolves away from the walls as they panted in exhaustion.

The young knight jumped into the saddle, holding the reins in his wounded hand and spear in his right hand. What he wanted to do might be stupid, but it gave everyone a chance to survive.

"Now!!" He screamed and began his gallop.

Bron pulled back the beams, and a narrow entrance appeared in front of the young knight. Inside which, the corpses of wolves were swirling.

However, they did not constitute any obstacles for his horse, and he jumped over them in one leap and was on the other side.

The spear in his hand immediately found its target in a nearby wolf. Without losing momentum, he steered his horse towards the goblins. They noticed him as soon as he jumped out from behind the wooden structure, and three of them were already charging their wolves toward the young knight.

The knight bowed his spear and sped his horse away. The wolf riders were much lower than he was in his saddle. A few yards apart, Aron's horse suddenly sped up, adding strength to the impact. One unfortunate goblin was pinned to the ground with his wolf, and another was rammed by the horse.

From under the horse came a wolf howl. Only one of the three raiders charging the knight survived. He tried to hit the young knight with his spear, but this one was faster and had already drawn his weapon from the body of the first unfortunate one. After a while, he pushed it into the terrified goblin and the wolf.

The other wolves turned their attention to the knight. The latter met them and rushed into the following three, crushing with his horse's hooves and stabbing his spear left and right.

While Aron focused on eliminating as many wolves as possible, one of the goblins launched an attack on the open entrance. However, he met Bron, who could deal with the attacker thanks to his aura.

The fight at the walls did not last long, nor did the chase outside. After a few minutes, Aron finished off the last goblin and knocked off his wolf, which at the last moment tried to escape. Panting heavily, he shouted with the last of his strength.

"We won!! We will live!"

As soon as he did so, he directed the tired horse towards the tent. Somehow, even the steed escaped more severe wounds. As soon as he approached the entrance, he heard a sound, and the grymuar appeared before his eyes.
