" You want me to do what?" Cian was sure that he heard Cordelia wrong there was no way she was going to ask him to do something like that, he has walked out of that life and there was no going back, this was what he understood and surely she did as well. 

" I want you to look for a dark wizard, by the name Jasper.." she repeated herself this time much clearer than before as if afraid that he didn't hear her clearly the first time. " I know it's too much of me to ask you that but I have no other choice, if I did I wouldn't have asked you to do something as dangerous as this." 

" But why? I mean why are you asking me to do such a thing all of sudden?" asked Cian, he couldn't possibly understand why his grandmother would want him to chase a dark mage down for no reason, it must be something important or else she wouldn't have chosen to let him know about this Jasper guy.
