Kapitel 9: Chapter 9 : A Messenger Arrives

It wasn’t the best sleep of my life, but I was just grateful to be catching any shut-eye that I could. I hadn’t been restless or tossing and turning, though I dreamed. I dreamt of Damien’s shirtless message to me.

In the dream, I first looked at the picture he had sent me on my bed, but then, I teleported to the bed I had woken up in inside the hotel. Instead of lying beside a sleeping Jasper, it was Damien, naked, with his blonde hair a little raggedy from bedhead.

Damien had opened one eye, reached a hand out to my stomach, and touched the round bump from my baby. He had smiled, and the dream had just felt so good.

Then, a firm knock at the door startled me awake, and I rolled off the futon and onto my carpeted floor, burrito'd in my blankets.

A woman’s voice could be heard on the other side of the bedroom door.
