Kapitel 44: The Meeting
"Sure, come with me."
Xu Anyi froze, looking at him in surprise, then looking over at the assistant, who appeared even more surprised than her.
Luo Xi's mouth fell open as he gaped at his boss, and then he slowly and cautiously edged over to him, whispering, "But boss, this meeting is about th-"
"Go set another chair next to me in the meeting room," Si Mu ordered, cutting him off.
Luo Xi looked very distressed as he tilted his head from side to side, "Boss, the meeting-"
"Did you not hear my words?" Si Mu turned to look at him.
Luo Xi gulped and finally, he looked down, walking back out of the room, "Yes, sir."
After he had left, Si Mu looked over at her and walked over to the door, "Let's go."
Xu Anyi could see that the assistant wasn't very happy about her attending, but she was not going to let go of this opportunity to learn, and she knew she had no impure motives, so she quickly followed him out of the room and into the meeting room right across.
Everyone was in the room already when they entered, and they stood up when they saw Si Mu, greeting him, "President Si."
However, when they saw the second person enter after him, and it wasn't his assistant, their expressions changed as they looked at each other in confusion. Who was this woman? Was it a new assistant?
They saw her casual outfit and breathtaking appearance and immediately crossed out that thought. The boss didn't even have any female assistants, so that was obviously not possible. Perhaps the boss of another company?
But why was she at this meeting. . . This meeting was discussing some very important future projects and directions of the company. There was no way boss would let an outsider listen to this meeting.
"President Si, this is. . ." The person sitting at the front right of the rectangular table asked cautiously.
"She will be listening to the meeting today," Si Mu said simply as he placed the folder he was holding onto the table and sat down.
Xu Anyi quietly sat down in the empty chair placed to the side of Si Mu's large chair, slightly behind him, and looked at him. From here, she could see the side of his face, which had the usual cold expression on it.
However, there was a greater feeling of dominance and power as he faced the group of people in front of him, most of which were older than him by a whole generation.
The confidence that exuded from him did not seem fake or forced at all, and it almost seemed like he was born with it, and it seemed natural on him, making everyone in the room instinctively scared but also respectful towards him.
However, perhaps it was because she wasn't a part of this meeting, or perhaps it was because she knew the real him better than anyone else in this room, but she wasn't scared of him. Instead, she felt proud watching him. . . but also sad.
Even if he was born with this natural ability to rule, she couldn't imagine what he had to go through to be able to get here today. Being able to sit in front of all these old and sly foxes, and gain all of their respect and fear.
The other people in the room did not question Si Mu any further seeing his cold expression, and the meeting began.
Soon enough, people stopped paying attention to Xu Anyi as she sat there quietly, not saying anything or even moving as she looked between the people who spoke, mostly at Si Mu.
Si Mu mostly sat there, listening to the other people speak as he looked blankly ahead at the wall across from him. He would tap his finger against the glass table or spin a pen in his hand, and Xu Anyi noticed that whenever he stopped tapping his finger, the atmosphere in the room would immediately tense up.
Even though she was not involved in the meeting, she could feel his strong presence, which was quite different from how he interacted with her.
The meeting lasted for over an hour and Xu Anyi understood why the assistant and other people were so keen on not having her listen to the meeting. The content of the meeting was quite confidential, especially for such a large and important company like the Si Corporation.
However, she was still able to learn a lot about how a company was run and also how Si Mu ran the company.
It was after noontime already after one of the managers finished the report of his department, and he sat back down, waiting for Si Mu to react. Suddenly, in the silence of the room, the sound of a stomach grumbling alerted everyone.
Everyone whipped their heads around immediately and looked in the direction where the noise came from, which was. . .
Si Mu also stopped flipping the pen around in his hand as he tilted his head around slightly, looking at the girl who sat behind him, whose body tensed up in embarrassment.
Xu Anyi felt the strong gaze on her and she smiled awkwardly, not sure if she should say something or not. She had eaten breakfast in a rush and it was way past lunchtime now, and she had been enduring her hunger for a long time now.
She had no problem with it, but it seemed like her stomach was more unhappy than she was.
Everyone sat in a deafening silence, wondering what the President would do from the disturbance. The President never liked having meetings interrupted, so most of the people in the room guessed that he would have the girl leave.
However, to everyone's surprise:
"Let's take a lunch break."
