Kapitel 242: Lies

Stella reached for her dress, sifting through the material in search of any ruins that may render it unusable. When she saw the hole that the bullet had gone through, she suddenly remembered the scar that it'd left.

Instinctively, her hand reached for the spot, exerting a little bit of force to the scab that had formed. In the space of one month, it had healed significantly. Other than the unsightly scar, there was hardly any indication that she was once at the brink of death.

However, as she thought about her next move, she felt anything but happy. On the contrary, her mind was filled with woe and sadness, causing her to wish that somehow she should not have stepped in to save him.

She'd taken advantage of the levity that Matteo had granted her, and opened herself to him – not keeping in mind the aftermath of everything that had happened.
