Kapitel 167: 3.45

Whilst everyone's eyes continued to gaze at me in awe, for the flames that had briefly erupted from my palms, I simply lay there in shock. 

Not at the way they looked, not for the fact that I had powers, -I was used to that sort of shit by now- but for the way that Dax was looking down at me as the water soaked us all to the bone.

"Can you get up now?" I asked awkwardly. 

He blinked rapidly, then pushed himself to stand. Though his top had singe marks, it had not broken through to his skin. 

His hand was outstretched, offering to help me up. Yet I couldn't bring myself to touch him again. That look. I recognized that kind of look. And it certainly wasn't the kind you gave your pet.

Instead, I pushed myself up, grabbed my boots, then walked through the parted crowd to the door.

Dax followed me wordlessly all the way to my bedroom door, which I firmly closed in his face.
