Her eyes glinted with full recognition and understanding and she brought it close to her face, peering closer before stopping herself with a flinch as though aware I was right there.

I did not like this.

She slowly looked up at me and I could already smell and see the denial from a mile away.

"No," she answered.

"I know you are lying," I stated, dead-panned. I fought the urge to get angry, stifling the annoyance that was beginning to show on my face with a frown.

What was she playing at? What was she scared of?

 The way she shrank back with fear made me reconsider my approach. To her, I was someone powerful, likely even a monster as I came with Fashire and I might as well be lying about being a deity according to her, so I needed to reel myself back in. My words now carried weight unlike before.
