"You're truly not Sphinx…" Bala trailed, her eyes fixed on me as if trying to assess deep into my soul. Her dark waves danced in the wind as she stood still, focused on me for the first time.

My brows furrowed. I'd already made it clear, hadn't I? But more importantly… "I have never heard of this Paloma, but did you just refer to Strome as a goddess?"

Bala hesitated before nodding. Then she raised her hand, stopping me from saying anything else. 

"Please, I believe I am starting to understand," she said, a disturbing certainty in her voice as if my claims had finally clicked into place for her. "Maybe it explains the lack of harmony…" I did not understand what she meant by that and before I could ask about it, she continued, "But before I address your questions, you have to come with me to the temple. You will have a more thorough understanding of things as I explain along the way."
