Kapitel 16: The Sacred Name

"So, what was the other ritual about?" Kenny queried curiously, pointing to one particular ritual that has drawn a female and male.

Clint studied the ritual pattern before he interpreted the ancient writings. "It says here, and this one is a soul-binding ritual. It is more likely a union of two souls who want to meet in their next lives to continue their love."

"Oh! That's interesting! I think this is what you need, Allen. Why don't you and Violet ...."

Randy did not dare finish his sentence when he only mentioned that precious name, every pair of eyes shot a dagger look in his direction, reminding him that this name was sacred. Although the entire facility's central security system was named after Violet, indeed, it was weird, but they never dared to question Allen or spout the name as they pleased.

Randy scratched his temple and chuckled. "I'm about to say that since you have some business cooperation to discuss with Violet regarding a hotel and resort project. Don't you think it's an excellent suggestion to…"

"Enlighten us." Duncan chimed, grinning. Randy spoke too slowly, trailing his words, making them impatient to listen further.

Allen also pulled the corner of his mouth and leaned back on his chair. He even placed both of his hands on the back of his head to enjoy how Randy would roast himself.

As for Randy, he regretted he was being nosy. Now he brought such embarrassment upon himself. He only wanted to throw jokes, but what happened instead, he needed to swallow it instantly before he could spill out.

Looking at the men waiting for him to continue, Randy chuckled nervously and explained,

"Well, don't you think it was an exceptional marketing strategy? I mean... White House Garden was a known place for couples proposing marriages and shooting their pre-wedding photos. Since you plan to build a resort and villas near Violet's place, is it a good gimmick to promote this soul-binding, whatever belief it is, no?"

The men shared glances. After that, they burst out laughing. Allen, on the other hand, lifted one brow as he ridiculed Randy. "Do you expect me to give you two months' worth of bonus for coming up with such an idea?"

"Well, no, thank you. I'm good!" Randy quickly shut his mouth and swore he would not open it for the time being.

At last, Randy stopped blabbering; the other men breathed a sigh of relief. Good thing that the guy instantly came up with a believable explanation; otherwise, they would have already thrown him out if he weren't stopped spouting the sacred name.

Now that he was safe, Randy casually wiped the beads of sweat forming on his forehead. From here on, he shall watch his mouth.

In their circle, it was apparent how Allen had eyes for Violet. Hence, they also knew why he didn't want outsiders to know about it.

Even though it is obvious how Allen was overprotective of Violet, he doesn't want to show or admit it to her for a profound reason.

Then the discussion carried on and lasted another hour before the seven men called it a night. After the meeting, the men stayed at Allen's house.

Allen has his private laboratory three miles from the main facility. Here, he has guests' rooms his friends and family can stay in.

But most of the time, Allen doesn't want anyone to invade his space, as he prefers isolation when he has nothing to work on. It was only occasionally that he invited someone to his laboratory, and tonight was the exemption.

Allen headed to his room and walked straight to the bathroom. After showering, Allen finished his bath, strode toward his wardrobe, and put on some clothes.

He received a message from Duncan saying they had a barbecue on the rooftop. Allen replied, "Leave me some. I'll join you after a few matters I have to attend to."

He had no other things to do, but he wanted to rest his mind from a long day. Allen sat down on his chair behind his desk; a robot nanny served him a glass of water. Staring at the crystal water, he opened his drawer, took some pills, and then ate them.

He emptied the glass afterward, and then the nanny cleaned his desk. Once the robot disappeared from his bedroom, he leaned back and closed his eyes to enjoy a moment of solace.

But his mind wandered somewhere. Allen reached for his chest and placed his hand on top, pressing his fingers to his heart. He could feel how it ached for her like there was a hole inside….

Allen was trying to settle down the beat of his heart. Suddenly, a chime interrupted his train of thoughts. The computer screen appeared in front of him, displaying the reports sent by his secretary. Earlier, after the meeting, he sent a message to Laney to sort out his schedule for next week because he had other plans until the engagement party by the weekend.

Reading the lists of meetings he had to attend, Allen began to feel bored. It may be that Angela is the VP and Hendrik is the Administrative Director, and both take care of almost everything in the company; still, he is required to act in his role as the president and meet their major business partners.

Allen swiped the next pages lazily. Laney, who has worked for him for many years now, is genuinely diligent in his work. His secretary ensured to include essential details about the people requesting an appointment with him. With this, he could easily choose who had the beneficial business proposal because the truth is, he found it boring to meet everyone when they were only blabbing nonsense and only trying to scheme him.

Bored, Allen was about to give up as he lost interest in reading further. At first, he didn't want to believe it after that name appeared at the bottom of the list.

Allen thought he was only drowsy, so he squinted his eyes many times to make sure he was reading the name correctly. He wasn't mistaken.

Yet, Allen dialed his secretary's contact to confirm it. On the other end of the voice call, Laney queried him.

"When should I appoint the schedule for Miss Shang, President Williams?" It is understood that every time his boss rang him to inquire about a particular appointment request, this person is significant to the boss; then he who will personally make time and arrange his busy schedule.

Allen did not answer Laney right away. He contemplated at first, then replied after some thought.

"Scheduled it first thing in the morning on Monday. I have more things to do, so send her here to my lab," said Allen with a grin seeming on his lips.

Since it's Violet who is looking for him, then he can meet her anywhere he wants. With that thought, Allen had just created a scheme unknowingly.

Laney was confused initially, so he pondered for a moment before he queried his boss. They must hold the meeting in the Crow Corporation HQ, but his boss wants him to bring Miss Violet to the facility, which has a strict protocol to get clearance.

"I assumed it will be in your office in the facility, sir?"

"No. In my private lab."
