"You wanted to be alone with me," Mariana whispered.
At times, her voice broke down, and at other times it carried her through whatever she needed to say. It was hard to predict her emotions, and the reason for her voice being so unstable was her heart, so, naturally, Mariana considered the matter and its significance before speaking about it. It was a calculation she had to make with every sentence she formed in her mind. Of course, it was hard, and uncomfortable, too, but she was quickly getting used to this new state of affairs.
"Yes. Yes, I wanted to talk with you in private. While you were unconscious, I found out a few things…" Daniel was pacing around in the room, apparently plagued by some thoughts that he could not quite articulate in a clear way that would let Mariana know just what was making him so worried.
