Kapitel 232: The next step

After having breakfast with everyone, I was sitting idly as usual. They don't let me go anywhere. I am under constant surveillance. But I need to use this time to make a plan. I can't charge in there without a plan anymore.

Fortunately, three of them have come back and are undergoing some light treatment because that place isn't safe for anyone. Jade and Masha have been keeping me company.

Mom is having fun with the both of them. I didn't know that she liked animals so much. At first, Jade got pretty upset once she saw Masha. But Masha went to her and did something which placated Jade.

My strength is restored. I am brimming with power. But this power is currently meaningless as it doesn't work there.

Normally a lower dimensional entity can not interfere with a higher dimension. I have ripped apart the dimensional barriers before but just which dimension is that, I have no idea. Besides it isn't a plausible method.

Strauss comes to the lounge and sits next to me. He looks exhausted.

"Must be tough!"

"Not as much. It's just that getting used to the lower dimension takes more time than I had anticipated." (Strauss)

"Tell me, what is the name of that place? Not knowing the name is troublesome. I have to imagine that place every time I think of it."

"It's currently called the Free World. Because it has no ruler. Only a bunch of proxies rule it. That's for now." (Strauss)

"Then, give me the context. I don't think that Samantha would be so weak that she had no choice but to marry someone."

"Hey, even though she is somewhat tomboyish, she is still a girl. There are times when you are feeling vulnerable, right?" (Strauss)

Vulnerability? I don't know. I guess when I am sick, I am vulnerable. But what does that have to do with the situation?

"My family is the current ruler of the Free World. But we are just administrators. We are not creators. So in order birth a creator, two families decided to tie the knot.

My sister being the only daughter, was chosen to be married to a really questionable person. My sister is strong. Both her abilities and her personality are pretty strong. But she can't go against our father." (Strauss)

He kept telling me the context like he was reminiscing.

"Our father was a very kind man. But when our family became the ruler of the world, he became weird. He kept trying to become a creator. Sadly, we do not possess the qualities of a creator.

That's why, he started a conquest. He conquered every single kingdom or you know, territories and united them under his name. The empire grew and only one single empire was left." (Strauss)

He stopped his tale.

"So, your father got crushed under his own ambitions."

"In a way, yes. But the only empire that we could not conquer, he wanted to make ties with them so we don't have to fear them. That's why, this wedding was planned. My sister is nothing but a political scapegoat." (Strauss)

"How long has she known that?"

"Since her birth. Both of us were born after he had done those things. I guess, my sister wanted to take her mind off this matter for a while. That's when you came and caught her attention." (Strauss)

I see. The rest, I don't need to hear it. I can mostly guess the rest.

"When my sister found out that our father knew about her contact with you, she was shaken. I had never seen her that weak before. As the administrators, we do have the authority to fix any errors in the system.

You are essentially a bug generated within the system. Normally you would have been neutralized but you were not. It was as if this system was protecting you. My sister saw a chance in that and gambled her chances." (Strauss)

I didn't know that so many things were depending on me. I need to face this with utmost resolve.

But I am getting bored. Let's go any rehabilitate my body.

"Why don't we go for a stroll?"

"But aren't you under surveillance?" (Strauss)

That's true. I had to work really hard to persuade everyone. I promised that I won't go to the Free World.

Only then they let me go but I think Fay will keep checking my location every once in a while.

We both go to Jupiter. My right kneecap is broken and my collarbone is broken. But they do not hinder me.

"It's been a while since I have taken a job. Why don't I do a job while discussing?"

"That might be a good idea. Besides, this planet and its monsters are nothing compared to that ruined world." (Strauss)

We both went to the guild. When I opened the door, the entire hall fell silent. Why are they looking at me like a dead person has come back to life?

"Hello, Ms. Maria. It has been a while."

"Uh…yes, Mr. Belmont. I thought you would be unavailable for a while longer." (Maria)

"I was injured so I am currently recuperating so I thought I would do a job while I am at it."

"If you are injured, why would you do a job?" (Maria)

"It's to rehabilitate myself. I have been sitting idle for an entire week. That doesn't bode well with me."

She wryly laughs. The people around me are whispering. How much time has passed since I left?

"It's been quite a lot of time since you left. You should remember that the time axes between Jupiter, Primis Societas and Free World are pretty different." (Strauss)

"I see. Anyway, Ms. Maria, do you have anything for me?"

She takes out a bunch of papers.

"These are the jobs the guild master has set aside for you. What would you like to do?" (Maria)

I take the bundle and looks through it. Drakes, renosters, ogres, goblin kings and many other monsters. Nothing too challenging. I give it back to her and say that I will take the ogre one.

"Then ogres it is. Here, the map to the place." (Maria)

"Thank you. I'll be back in a minute."

I take Strauss and leave the guild. This little job will be a detour and it will give me some time to rethink the situation. I'm hoping to have a good talk with Strauss while doing this.
