Kapitel 8: 08: Who's that Virus?

This is serious.

"Okay, okay, okay." Darius approached the Pokemon carefully because much like rabies, a pokemon from the Sewaddle line infected with the Yellow-Green virus would become aggressive at the later stages and attack anything around them with deadly precision and desires. This was a deadly virus. It could only be spread by three ways - through water contamination (that can also happen through some different ways), through Pokemon contamination, or deliberate contamination. Either the water here had been infected by the pathogens of this virus (because in nature, many viruses can be spread in many ways) being carried by Flying Pokemon or other type of Pokemon that bathed in them waters (if the source of water is a river, the water is safer for a Sewaddle to drink due to the constant movement of the water), either was this Leavanny attacked by a Pokemon that carried the virus but was immune to it since only the Sewaddle line could be infected by the Yellow-Green Virus, or this was a deliberate infection.

By that, Darius means that either a knowledgeable Pokemon deliberately infefted this Leavanny, or a human did it. And this option scares and angers him too much.

Darius looked closely to the little Sewaddle on his hands, searching for any sign that showed that he too was infected, and just as he feared, he was. This virus had three great phases, the Intial Phase, where the infected Pokemon will feel nothing and act like normal, the Delirium Phase, where the Pokemon will start to hallucinate and/or having random delirious moments, getting aggressive as this stage ends and the third stage begins: The Rage Stage. In this stage, the infected Pokemon will attack everything and everyone around it until it either dies by the virus consuming the Pokemon's brain or until another Pokemon kills it. An infected Sewaddle, Swadloon, or Leavanny can infect others of their line by simply having contact with one another. The virus spreads by injuries, saliva, silk, and simply wearing the leaf clothing the Pokemon made.

"Okay..." Darius looked at the delirious Leavanny, clearly (according to what he knew), this Pokemon had just entered the second phase, which meant there was still hope. "Okay... Hey, Sewaddle?" The little pokemon did a cute "Waddle!" In response as Darius said deeply serious: "That Leavanny, are they your family?" The Pokemon simply nodded, making Darius sigh: "Listen, they are sick, very sick." The Pokemon tilted its little wormy head curiously: "And so are you... I can try to cure you. You, and your whole... Swarm?" The little caterpillar Pokemon wearing a green leaf hoodie did a soft turn, looking right where the Leavanny came from - Darius saw a large opening, and from that opening, there were many Pokemons wearing leaf clothing. There were hundreds of Sewaddles, Swadloons, and a few Leavanny, too.

... There's no way a colony like this would not notice how their members started to get sick. Pokemon of the Sewaddle line literally killed their infected, getting rid of their corpses by giving them to flying Pokemon, to not contaminate their swarm. So there was only one option that Darius could think of... Someone, or something, deliberately infected them.

"Oh no." So, what can he do? The Yellow-Green virus was a DNA virus that made the cells that hosted it destroy themselves and, at the same time, spread out more of itself through the bloodstream of the Pokemon. Upon infection, the virus would need between a week and three weeks, depending on the individual, to completely infect and kill the Pokemon. Since this virus "evolved" (since viruses aren't exactly alive, they don't evolve, which was weird that the information he had especially said the word "evolve") to infect the Sewaddle line, it could not infect other Pokemon... Unless it could also infect Pokemon with similar biology.

Like other Bug Pokemon, but then it'd be a virus that could wipe out thousands of Pokemons in a forest.

'Okay, I can do something about this.' He had knowledge of the Pokemon anatomy, and he had classes that gave him skills that helped him heal and make medicine for these Pokemon. This virus, it is a virus of Lytic Cycle, which is so fucking good because if it was a virus of Lysogenic Cycle, there would be so many fucking ways this could go wrong. First things first, he needs information on the genetic structure of the Sewaddle line of Pokemon! "Don't worry, little guy, I will try to help." What he could realistically do is develop a medicine that can increase their immune system's strength to fight against the virus, because he is virologist that can create a medicine that can stop the virus itself from attaching to the Pokemon, if he tries in the future, the maximum he could make is a vaccine for the virus.

...wait.

What is he thinking about? This is the world of Pokemon. He can literally use energy and magical. Why not use them? 'It could work... but how?' The energy he uses to heal Pokemon and himself is his own energy, and he is a Tier 1 Energy User. How does he increase his rank!? 'Hey system, tell ne really quick?'

There was no response. He looked around his own status screen for any kind of answer, trying to find anything that could help him... He did not find anything. He stood still for a minute, staring at the [Energy User Rank: 1] part of his status - When suddenly, the screen morphed into another one:

---

[Energy User Rank: 1]

Rank Up requirements to Rank 2

Have 250 Energy

Have 1 Energy Technique

Have 1 Energy Core equivalent to one of more of your Affinities

---

So this is what he needs to do, huh? The list of things he doesn't know about just increased. Pokeblocks could also be used alongside the medicine he wants to make to increase the strength of these Pokemon's immunity systems. Like Ginseng is a root that can help human's immune systems, Darius is sure he can find something similar in the Pokeworld of Pokemon that can do basically the same. 'Oran Berries.' Oran Berries are a solid answer, seeing as they are used to make basic Potions, Super Potions, and Hyper Potions alongside a bunch of other ingredients and an activator, which made Darius think to himself... Can he actually make a potion and turn it into a pokeblock? Because Pokeblocks are injested easily and activate quickly due to their composition, while medicine take while for the body to process.

He followed the Sewaddle and Leavanny to their territory, and he soon started counting them- There were about 238 Sewaddle, 78 Swadloons, and 7 Leavanny. From these Pokemon, the ones that showed symptoms of infection were about 78 Sewaddles, 23 Swadloons, and 3 Leavanny. He immediately came to the leader Leavanny to discuss what was happening, and the Pokemon had a pretty much broad understanding of the circumstances, but she was also infected. Darius asked her: "Have you seen any humans that came here before me?" And to his horror, the Pokemon nodded.

Darius asked her to please isolate the infected ones and keep the healthy ones to help him find a way to cure them or to at least help them fight this virus, and somehow, the Pokemon agreed. Thankfully, Darius had the Bug type Affinity alongside his [Friendly] skill, which helped him a lot here! He had the infected Pokemon to be isolated from the healthy ones while he tried to develop something to help them. So he dived deeply into theoretical Pokemon things. Bug is super effective against Dark, Psychic, and Grass type... This is weird, but Bug type energy feel like something that consumes, that hungers to grow quickly and spread its wings. Maybe he could use the Bug type energy to somehow, someway, heal these Pokemon.

But for that, he'd have to rank up.

Darius: *hears a cough* *head turns menacingly* Did I just hear... the pestilence?

-Scene Cut-

Cerberus looked over his Alpha. The man was unlike everything he knew about Alphas - They are supposed to rule over other Pokemon with their strength and might, supressing those who are beneath them and make them obey, knowing their place. But ever since he was rescued by him, Cerberus has observed how this man was... Different. At first, Cerberus thought it was pity, but the longer he spent beside him, the more he learned - His Alpha was just a good person.

He liked to help, and although he lacked the strength of an Alpha, he had the heart of many more. His abilities were not focused on combat, but rather, healing and caring, training and making others stronger with his influence. So Cerberus did his best to also follow his footsteps, seeing how he treated others with respect and care, and all small Pokemon seemed to love him at first sight! In the presence of these Bugs, Cerberus instinctively knew that they would be extremely hurt by his Fire attacks. A small part of himself wanted to hunt them and kill them, but he followed his Alpha as he helped these Pokemon with their problem.

He took a deep breath from his nose, flowing bis energy around his nose and body, making him smell the disease within their bodies. He helped and pointed out which were contaminated, making his Alpha thankful and proud of him. He could feel it through their own bond, which was another thing that they shared and Cerberus never had before.

Thanks to his help, they managed to isolate the infected bugs successfully, and now his Alpha could work in peace.

"You." Cerberus turned to look at the shadow beneath his Alpha's feet, from where these two red crystal eyes stared at him: "You are part of our pack now, keep Alpha safe from the shadows." The ghost Pokemon simply replied in a shaky voice: "O-of course!" Before coughing a little: "I will do my best to keep our... Alpha safe."

"Good." Cerberus nodded, a sense of confidence flowing through his mind as he began to train like his Alpha showed him how. He tapped his feet on the ground and began to lower his body until he was almost lying down and then raised his body up again, jumping in the air and getting down again. This was one of the exercises Alpha told him would help, especially increasing his jumping height and speed.

He is going to train hard, to make his Alpha proud.
