She was skin and bones, her red like blood. She had long emerald hair and all around her body were scars that could not be erased by magic. On her forehead was mana swirling chaotically.
"Stop it, Isaac. You're going to destabilize the runes," warned Tari.
It was hard to contain his anger, but Isaac reeled everything inside. Blood flowed out his nose, and he just wiped it away after taking a deep breath, '...easy.. easy now.'
Isaac took a couple of minutes before he could finally settle his emotions, "...I've been told she massacred a town and its lord."
"That's wrong!" Tari raised his voice, cutting off Isaac.
His eyes could not be seen but the contortion of his face was enough to convey his frustration in response to Isaac's words, "Then, what happened? Tell me everything."
Tari recounted what happened.
It all began more than a month ago when Tari and Davil landed in this Forest. Davil was weak, bleeding, and on death's door while Tari lacked any mana in his body, succumbing to Mana Collapse. They had no potion with them, and their ability to regenerate was nothing in comparison to someone like Isaac who had regenerative skills and traits.
In their time of need, her little and frail body towered over their slumped and injured selves, "Or should I say she looked at us from behind a tree five meters away. Hahaha, she was afraid of us, but she still helped us in our times of need… she was shaking but she pulled us to safety and then wiped us off the grime and dirt and even fed us what little she had in her home."
Mia was an Orphan, or rather someone abandoned by her Mother who left half a year ago. She was eight and sells magical plants she finds in the Forest. She would hide from monsters by masking herself, venturing deep into the belly of the Monster-infested forest even adults would not fare to visit, "The magical ingredients she would bring to the Town would be rare and uncommon used in potions of all kinds. From what I heard, even adults could not match her in foraging for medicine. However, the pay she would receive was not even a quarter of what others get for doing half the job."
"Why?"
"Because the town claimed her mother's a descendant of a Depraved," Tari claimed.
"Depraved?"
"I don't know much myself. From what Mia understood, Depraved has the blood of Chaos in them. Their descendants are no better and ever since she and her mother came to their Town, monsters have just been more active. They were basically pointing their fingers at Mia and blaming everything on her."
The children would pick on her and the adults would only laugh. It was encouraged to get away from her, others seen as being kind would be hated so no one would offer her a helping hand. Even Tari and Davil were no different and they too were hated.
"Mia said that we were the first ones to be so kind to her… that we were the first to not throw her a disgusted look her way." Tari's fist balled as he bit his lips. He was shaking from anger alone.
Isaac did not know what kind of place Tari grew up in, but, back in his world, Demons have been extinct for five hundred years, 'They were killed one by one because they were the descendants of the Demon Lord. It was said that they were enslaved after the War and then when they tried to get back on those who enslaved them, they were killed and the decision to kill every single demon was given.'
From what Isaac could see, Demons were seen negatively in many cultures and worlds. Tari was a happy-go-lucky person. A bit eccentric and protective of his mother's honor, but someone capable of smiling at the end of the day.
However, even he could not keep his emotions at bay in certain situations. When Tari tried confronting a child and her parents after Mia was hurt by rocks, he was stopped. Mia simply stopped him, telling him she was used to it.
Tari was angered for Mia, and Davil was livid. The two could not do anything, however and after some time, they made sure to protect her, and then, both Tari and Davil offered to take her with them out of town.
"One night I asked her if she would leave the town with us and Mia was still waiting for her mother. I knew she was going to wait… of course, she would. Any child who is left behind would wait, no matter what happens. So, I asked her if she wanted to go and find her mother with me, and she agreed, but the day we decided to leave was the day a Monster Flood attacked the town."
The monsters of the Forest attacked and started killing. It was pandemonium and in the midst of it, Tari and Davil wanted to escape with Mia but the lass suddenly cried and shouted for everything to stop and the Monsters did what she said.
"Her body awakened mana, her skin changed to dark red. On her forehead appeared the pearl and she became who she is now. Her dark red skin used to be tanned, her hair black, and her eyes crimson. But that was not all. Her voice prompted the monsters to listen. It was unbelievable to see Monsters with levels quadrupled and even quintupled our own listening to a little girl, but that was the beginning of it all."
The survivors gathered to see what happened and in the middle of bowing monsters, they saw Mia. Her appearance changed, her mana rising, and the monsters bowing all made them think it was her fault.
Many were afraid but only one person it took for them to start cursing and then throwing rocks. The contempt they held for Mia returned, the image of the weak and frail girl that cowered before them overshadowed the thought of what could happen.
"Mia endured even when the rocks made her bleed. She smiled knowingly and held my hand after asking Davil to stop. She sniffled and then asked if they could just leave… but we couldn't for the Town Lord appeared with his bloodlust rising, and pointed his sword at Mia with a smile on his face. He whispered something along the lines of being lucky that he met a newborn Anarchy Lord… and when he attacked the Monsters retaliated."
The monsters had been keeping their silence even when it was just rocks. But they ignored even Mia's orders when mortal danger presented itself to their master.
"The monsters poured to the Lord and then their lust for blood and anger mixed and started killing the townsfolk who blamed Mia and hurt her. When everyone was killed, the monsters growled at us. They wanted to kill us as well but Mia begged them to stop and when they didn't, she exploded with mana that drained even her life just to save us. I don't know why but now the Monsters obey us but that burst of mana caused Mia a lot. She collapsed and started dying, her vitality was leaving her, and started turning to dust. Only healing magic stabilized her and then after a day, I terraformed the land and then created this place. I decided that I would use the Forest as her Potion to heal her. I don't want her to die."
Tari then ransacked the Town Lord's Library and learned about the Anarchy Lord. Two days later, Seekers arrived wanting to claim Mia's head, or rather, the Anarchy Lord's.
Tari and Davil guarded her.
They used the Monsters to block and kill the intruders themselves to increase their levels. They have killed enough to create a mountain.
'So that's what happened.' Isaac finally got the full picture. The Monster Flood was the real cause of the massacre and Mia was just caught in the middle, 'The Town Lord, or rather, that captain must have wanted Mia's head to gain recognition.'
Isaac gained no information about Anarchy Lords but he at least now knew that Mia had no sin to bear.
"So, why is she kept in the crystal? You sealed her to keep her from leaking mana or something?"
Tari shook his head, "I hope it's so easy. But, no, Mia is dying. She became an Anarchy Lord and immediately used so much of her powers to save those she shouldn't have. We've tried to leave several times but for the past three weeks, she'd been growing weaker. I had to resort to using this spell… but it's far from perfect. This is just a recreation of a Class-20 Forbidden Spell [Warmth of Gaiah]. It's the only healing formation I know that can supply her with vitality continuously. Because of my inability, its effects are only as good as a Class-15 Forbidden Spell and frail like a Class-7 Forbidden Spell. She's doing much better now after two weeks. She stabilized five days ago. We'll leave after she wakes up."
"When?"
"No less than 24 hours later. Davil raided your camp to slow them down in case they attacked tonight or the next day. We can take care of one or two groups, but a hundred people are going to be a problem. After that, we can escape through the exit I made."
Mia was weak in her current state. The process could not be halted for no more than a minute or else she would die.
Isaac was just about to say something when they heard hurried footsteps coming to them.
"You two, we have a problem. They've started to move." Davil reported in a hurry.
Tari and Isaac hurried outside to confirm his words.
'Shit!' Isaac suddenly cursed, seeing black smoke rising to the skies, 'They're using my strategy.'
