Kapitel 24: Scouting
Mikael got out of Oxenfurt on top of a black mare that he named Ebony. She was a strong horse, she could probably gallop from Oxenfurt to Novigrad easily without stopping, he had paid a lot after all, it cost him almost all of his coins.
He then went off the path, running around the wilderness of Oxenfurt, searching for something. He specifically searched around the bottom of the cliffs, near beaches, or forests.
He then stumbled across a cave, there seemed to be a bonfire lit in front of it. He dismounted, and walked towards the camp.
"Hello?" he shouted, his voice echoed inside the cave.
He could then hear the sounds of crawling from the inside, which made him frowned. Mikael looked away from the cave, towards Oxenfurt.
"Too far from town…" he murmured. But then, he heard a shriek from the inside, a scream of a man, filled with dread.
Mikael unsheathed his sword as he heard it, and approached the place.
"Anyone there?!" he shouted, continuing to walk inside. A man then ran towards him, all bloodied, he was missing his hand.
"H-Help!" he shouted. Mikael caught the man, stopping him from running.
"The hell happened to you?" Mikael questioned.
"W-Wolf…" the man stuttered.
Mikael raised his eyebrow, and he could hear faint footsteps running towards him. He dropped the man, and raised his sword. A gray wolf then appeared from the darkness of the cave, trying to pounce him. But Mikael was quick, he dodged the wolf, and stabbed the beast from the side, killing it instantly.
As the wolf whimpered to death, he looked at the man, he was bleeding heavily, as his hand was missing.
The man was groaning and crying on the floor, looking at his missing hand. "Fuck…."
Mikael sighed. "Come on, let's get you to a medic."

As Mikael stopped in front of Shani's clinic, he carried the bleeding man to his shoulder, and knocked on Shani's door.
The door quickly opened, revealing the redhead woman, smiling as she saw Mikael. She looked like she was eating, as she had some sauce on her cheek.
Shani saw the man on Mikael's shoulder and frowned. "What happened to him?" she asked as she let the two of them in, bringing him to the patient bed. Shani quickly brought some medical supplies to the table beside the bed, and quickly got to work.
"A wolf." Mikael said, grabbing a cloth from a table. "Attacked him in a cave, he passed out on the way, possibly because of blood loss."
"Yes… he lost a lot of blood…" Shani hummed in worry.
Mikael walked towards her, and used the cloth to wipe out the sauce on her cheek.
Shani was surprised, and quickly checked if there was any more sauce on her face. "C-Can you grab the spirit please?"
Mikael just hummed, and gave her a bottle of spirit. She then cleaned the wound of the man, before bandaging him up.
"What are you doing around a cave?" Shani asked curiously.
Mikael sighed. "Nothing really…"
"If you need help, you know you can ask me right?" Shani said, knowing that he's hiding something.
"This is different." Mikael said. "Dangerous, I'll be out of town for a little while… I don't have much time…"
"Look, just tell me what you're looking for, maybe I can help."
Mikael frowned. Miquella then spoke inside his mind. "Tell her Mikael, she is not some fragile soul, she had seen war, she had been in a battle, do not think of her as the usual woman."
"How the fuck did you know that?" Mikael snorted in his mind. "No, she has helped me enough, but I'll ask her for a place without telling the plan."
"Hello? Mikael?" Shani suddenly questioned, snapping Mikael out of it. "What are you looking for?"
Mikael just smiled. "Nothing really, just a place to hide some things…"
"Hide some things?" Shani raised her brow. "I know a place, near the river."
"River?"
"Yeah… Oxenfurt river, what else?"
"And where is that?" Mikael asked curiously.
"From the gate, turn left. It's about 300 feet from there, quite hidden, used to hide school supplies that I stole there."
"Close to the sewers…" Mikael murmured. "Wait, you used to steal school supplies?"
Shani snorted. "Are you even listening to my stories? My family was poor, so I had to find another way to pay for the tuition…"
"Right… sorry…" Mikael murmured. "I'll check your place. How big is it?"
"Quite big to be honest." she answered. "Maybe enough for a bandit squad… merchants used to stop there to meet, and they brought their crew, so a lot of space. What do you need it for anyway?"
"Just some things…" Mikael shrugged. "Anyway, I think I'll leave now, take care of the guy."
Mikael then quickly got out of Shani's clinic, towards his horse.
"Wait!" Shani shouted, but it was of no use. Shani sighed, and continued to tend to the man.

Mikael was galloping in the middle of the night towards the direction that Shani had pointed. He stopped in front of the place, and what do you know, there's a cave, hidden among the cliffs, facing the river. Mikael entered the place, it had some barrels and furs that he could use, it was perfect.
"We just need boats to the river." Miquella spoke in his mind.
"I saw some near the town." Mikael said. "Let me take care of that first, then go to the ruins."
