Jace's POV

 I told Caden the details about my grandfather's sabotage of a company and the incident where he shot himself with his gun. Caden holds a lot of information about the Hilferdings brothers. With the description I gave him, Caden drew a conclusion.

 "Whoa, that's right. Serena reappears, disrupts your life, makes Elsie out of your sight so that the three crazy brothers easily kill her."

Yes, they chose Elsie because they knew she was related to me. Like Joseph's old plan, slowly kill the enemy using the people he cares about. I cursed annoyed. It feels like karma to me. I was intent on killing Thomas slowly using Cleopatra, now Hilfredings is trying to kill me slowly using Elsie. They managed to destroy Jo and Jeff. The next target is me. And they won't stop until we're all crushed to nothing. Maybe taking Karen or Ellen's killing was some kind of opening. I don't know what they will do. Maybe something crazier.
