<Jace>
She turned quickly, trying to pull her hand away from me. I didn't care about her refusal to me, instead, the corner of my mind demanded that I kiss the back of her hand. And I did it by force until I heard Kathleen scream.
"Jace, let go of my hand!" she scolded.
"Kathleen Sanders, answer me." I glanced at her sharply. "Why didn't you choose me? Why should it be him?"
She managed to pull her hand away from me, then walked away without giving any reply. I'm not going to let her walk away without an answer. All I wanted all along was to hear her answer.
So, I grabbed her wrist roughly until she didn't move in her place.
"I won't let you go until you answer me," I said. "Why didn't you choose me? What am I lacking? Why do you prefer Devon??"
"Let go of me," she pleaded. Her tone rose a few octaves. "Let me go!"
"I won't let you go until you answer my question." My grip is getting stronger. I don't care about her pain. "You should have chosen me. Because I deserve you more. Not him."
"Because you're my best friend!"
"Lie. You always lie to me." I pulled her hand closer until her body came forward, almost pressed against mine. "Devon is also your friend. But you chose him. Why??"
"You're turning more violent now," she sighed. "Let me go."
"I will let you go if you leave my cousin and choose me."
"No." She nodded slowly. "I love him."
Those two words gripped my heart. Angry, disappointed, all the negative feelings that were in me just spilled out due to the two words that came out of Kathleen's lips. Her two eyes imprisoned me in the desire to possess her. Her charm binds me. I won't let Devon win this time. He's already won a lot against me. Not this time.
Paying no heed to her refusing response, I forcefully kissed her. I ignored her hands trying to push me away or her muffled screams as my lips pressed against her. She kept struggling, pushing me, pulling my hand, but I ignored her. Until someone pulled me away from her, then hit me hard enough to make me stumble backward and almost fall.
"What the fuck are you doing?!"
I looked up, seeing Devon who was standing in front of me with his palms clenched in anger. I straightened my body while giving a defiant look while wiping the blood that came out of the corner of my lips.
"What are you here for?" I growled softly.
"This is my aunt's house, I have the right to come here whenever I want. I shouldn't have had Kathleen wait here while helping Jasmine if it turned out like this."
I didn't reply to Devon's explanation, I just gave him an annoyed and hateful look. If Jeff beat me in getting my grandfather's attention, Devon beat me in getting the attention of someone I love. I'm like a coward who lost badly against my cousins.
Dodging me, Devon pulled Kathleen into his arms and walked away. Before leaving in front of me, Kathleen still managed to turn her head even for a moment. My lips trembled and my hands clenched in anger. I let out my anger by screaming in annoyance while kicking the pot near me until it fell and its contents scattered on the grass. I'll avenge this pain, you'll see.
