Kapitel 5: Potential
Ling managed to kill the first monster that approached him in this game. After that, he seized the monster's core (Low-grade) equivalent to one dollar.
Meanwhile, the green rabbit's corpse disappeared right in front of him just like a bubble. Then now, his eyes were trembling while glancing at the surroundings because of the heavy stomp of the multiple creatures.
Based on its sound and where it originated, he can tell those unknown creatures were near to his location. Before he left the area, first, he glanced at the surface in the corner of his eyes just to check if there were any monster's drop items.
"There's nothing here besides the green blood and the core." He said inwardly.
He abandoned the area without making any second thought, knowing his current strength and skills weren't enough to battle numerous monsters at the same time.
Ling used the [Dash] skill, and to activate its effect, he should run continuously for seven meters.
Swoosh!

Even though his stamina wasn't easily drained in that battle and wielding his knife. Still, walking and running in the forest can exhaust him.
Ling was running away for almost 7 minutes before he found a spot where he can hide and regain his strength. It was a large rounded boulder and around him were the high bushes, helping him for concealing his existence from the monsters.

He leaned his back on the boulder and heavily panted as it seemed like running away and the tension given by the green rabbit depleted his stamina.
"I-I feel my body getting heavy, at the same time, I'm having a hard time breathing."
Ling thought playing online games can't exhaust him and let him everything was real.
Moreover, his stamina regenerated by two points each minute. Plus, he realized this was the better timing to manage the attribute points he acquired from killing the monster.

As soon as he said this word, a new blue gaming interface automatically appeared right in front of his eyes.

To improve his handling skills, he put one attribute point on the Dexterity by just simply clicking the [+] on the screen. Then he used the remaining points to his Strength in order to increase his power spike so that he can deal a lot of damage to the monsters.
How does he have a lot of information about this game if he never played at least once? Well, anyone who is in the proper thinking could know what are functions of those attributes.
Ling was a smart guy and the main reason why he had a full scholarship at that prestigious University. Aside, Ling wasn't just smart he also was an athletic guy that's why he had a slim body, not because he can't eat regularly.

In just 12 minutes of resting, he already regained 100% of his stamina. So he placed his hands on the surface and pushed himself into a stood up position, readying to complete his ongoing quest.

"My main goal today is to complete the quest before my part-time job starts,"
Ling said in a serious tone and exited the bushes. He was glancing around before noticing something wasn't right here.
"Now it appears inside my head, I'm wondering where the other players I met at the center are? Don't tell me I'm all alone here?"
To be honest, not meeting other players in this vast forest was a good situation for him. Why? It's because he can solo kill all the monsters that would respawn in this area, plus, the items he can acquire from them.

5:40 PM was the exact time right now and the reason why the entire place was starting to get dark.
"I should keep going before my eyes are blinded because of the dark."
Based on his opinion, although the moonlight shines brightly later. Still, it was not sufficient to have a full vision of the area since the areas were blocked by the trees' thick leaves from illuminating the light.

He rolled several times before noticing the three arrows that had metallic endpoints and wooden bodies. The arrows pierced the tree, exactly where he was standing earlier.
"Arrows? What type of monster had this high precision?" Ling said inwardly, then he regained his footing as more arrows were flying in the sky that directly landed at his location.
With its speed and trajectory, Ling was certain that he don't have to use the [Dash] skill to dodge the monster's attacks. Also, he was aware that he should conserve his stamina.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
While running and slashing the numerous arrows coming at him, Ling saw three green creatures standing next to the bushes and holding tree wooden bows. But this time that wasn't the Veronous Rabbit, or to describe it, that three creature was called a Goblin.
They were 92 to 95 centimeters tall, had bald heads, sharp teeth, yellow gleaming eyes, and had skin green tone. By simply seeing their outward appearance, Ling already had an idea of what was the characteristics of these monsters, based on the anime and movies he watched.
[Goblin]- it's an aggressive type of monster that loves killing and stealing items from someone. Also, they haven't had any emotions so once one of them dies, they didn't care.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Goblins kept throwing arrows at the area where they saw the human existence. However, all of them just hit the tree.
When the moment Goblins were switching their position, that's also the best time for Ling to hide and use the trees to block the arrows. "I'm not afraid of them, but I can't afford to charge them right now since the goblins could climb at these trees and move to another tree without having any problem. How I can supposedly reach them? Plus, those goblins were using a mid-range weapon."
At this point, it came to his mind to lure the monsters into the place where he can force them to go down. But the pressing question here was, where? Also, he was knowledgeable that there was a high chance that he can take the monsters' attention once he did that.
Swoosh!
Ling kept running away as he was looking for the spot, while the goblins were busy chasing him and releasing their arrows.

When he was about to turn in the intersection, the keen endpoint of the arrow slightly scratched his shoulder. Of course, he knitted his face as he felt a mild pain with that.
"What the hell? Even the pain is like a real one. What would happen to me if I get stabbed or sliced? The pain might be even worsened." Ling muttered and heard the monsters' swift movements above him.

At this point, he was forced again to dive to the ground as the arrows were way too closer able to reach him instantly.

His back was rolling on the small stones which made him groan in pain and stop after hitting a solid object.
Just like that, Ling was standing in front of the high cliff where there were no trees around or bushes, just small stones on the surface and a spacious area.
Bam! Bam! Bam!

Three aggressive goblins landed 15 meters away from him. But he noticed one thing, those monsters weren't down themselves here because this man forced them to do so, it was because they were out of arrows.
Tch!
He clicked his tongue as he thought those goblins had unlimited arrows since they were firing three arrows for every 10 seconds that had passed.
Goblins revealed their knives that were located on their waists. After that, they didn't hesitate to charge.
In his mind, if he watched the monsters' movements there was a high chance, he can anticipate the next attack. Also, he couldn't run away as the monsters has already surrounded him.
"One meter... I have a one-meter deficit before those monsters reach me with their knives."
Ling did the same thing along with the thoughts that he have to finish this fight and log out from this game.
Swoosh!
When a monster closed its gap within seven meters, the goblin jumped into the mid-air and held the knife with its green dirty hands. It seemed like, this monster would like to stab him on his forehead while the other two were still running.
"As expected, this monster is stupid. They never thought a creature that slowly flying in the air is always an easy target."
Swish!
Ling swung his knife upwards as he planned to split the monster's body in half.
Swish!
He can feel the flesh instantly cut by his knife and green stinky blood splashed on his face.
Bam!
As soon as the monster landed behind him, it instantly vanished. It then dropped the low-grade monster core and its knife.

Furthermore, he slightly lowered himself after the other monster used that time to attain a closer distance and leaped into the air.
He used his right arm to block the monster's arm so that knife can't reach him, he then pushed forward his left arm as he stabbed the monster in the chest.

He groaned in pain while narrowly lifting his head as the remaining monster find an opening to slice him on his leg.
The iron scent was perceived by his noise as the red blood on his thigh was slowly dripping into his knee down to his foot, and it soaked his pants.

He stumbled on his footing a bit. "That monster..." He gritted his teeth, then jumped into the air after he noticed the monster would like to attack again his legs.

Ling landed on the monster's body, smelling the rotten smell coming out of its mouth. The goblin restrained as he wanted to escape from this man.
"Do you think, I'll let you do that?" He asked the monster in a serious tone.
He then kept stabbing its head until the monster disappeared in this game like a bubble.

Ling didn't expect killing monsters would consume most of his time, and because of this, he realized farming cores wasn't that easy.
Moreover, he opened the function screen and went to the logout icon. "Well, for someone reason, I found this game interesting." He said along with a broad smile on his face before disappearing from the Akigayama forest.
