Kapitel 185: Flashback From The Future VIII

"It should have been me" said Ernest as he looked so devastated as he sat in the armchair in his office, he felt horrible, terrible.

"It should have been me" he said, repeating the same thing over again, he was overwhelmed, and he was crushed.

What was the point of him still being alive while the young people around him in his family were dying?

Today they had lost Larry, the shock was just too much for him, he was not able to handle it, and he went into cardiac arrest, it was too late before the ambulance could arrive, and he was declared dead on the scene, Dom had tried to revive him with CPR but it was no use, even if the nurses tried, but Larry had gone, he had given up the ghost.

"Why?" asked Ernest as tears dropped from his eyes, he was to blame, this was all his fault, and entire family had died because of him and his family, the daughter went first and her father followed, and it was all his fault.

What was the point of living if others around him died? he had been around for 85 years now, and he was now old, he had lived his life already, he would be fine with dying, just as long as the young people around him stayed alive.

"It is my fault… I am the one to blame" said Ernest as he covered his eyes with his right hand as he cried, he was blaming himself, it was his fault, if he had not insisted that Natasha marry Dom, if only he had listened to her when she had first disagreed, then maybe she would still be alive now, and so would her father, she would have not suffered so much pain and heartache, if only he had listened to her and let her live her laugh.

"Please forgive me Natasha, Please forgive me Larry" said Ernest out loud as he cried, he was the cause of all of this, if only he could turn back time, he would not be selfish, and he would let Natasha be her own person.

"I am sorry, it is all my fault" said Ernest as he cried, he had not felt this way for a very long time, for the past 15 years, ever since his Mary died, but now he felt even worse, there was nothing that anyone could say to him to try to make him feel better, he could not forgive himself, and he would not.

"What are we going to do?" asked Lia as she was crying and her eyes were very red as Charlie hugged her as she cried, his eyes were also filled with tears.

First they had heard of Natasha's death, and now they were there to witness the death of Larry as well, they were all heartbroken, they did not know what to do at all, they were all there, they were there when Larry had died, and to think that the shock of the news he had heard about Natasha had caused him to go like that.

"Everything is horrible" said Lia as she sniffed and she cried.

"Shush" said Charlie as he tried to coax Lia, even though he himself felt just as horrible as she did, but they were all just so tired right now, even Dom looked worse than they all, he was there, he was the one, he had tried to save Larry but he just could not.

Dom's eyes were red, he felt worse, he felt even worse than he did when he heard of Natasha's death, the difference was that he was not there for Natasha, but he was there for Larry, and yet he could not save him?

Just how useless was he? He was not there for his wife, and neither could he be there for his Father in law, he was just there, a waste of space.

Nine looked… sad, for once in his life, he did not have a cold look on his face, he did not look annoyed, he looked shattered, just like they all felt.

Michael stood up as he wiped away his tears, he was tired of hearing Lia's laments, and he was tired of the sad atmosphere now, he stood up and he walked to where Dom was resting on the wall as he had a blank emotion on his face.

"Dom, I think you should go and talk to Grandfather" said Michael as he cleared his throat, they were all here, grieving, but they forgot that Ernest was the one who looked even more devastated than they did.

"I don't think he would want to see me right now" replied Dom as he sighed and he wiped his tears, he was tired, he was tired of it all, this past two days, had been nothing but bad news after bad news, death after death.

"Regardless, he needs you right now, we all need each other" said Michael as he was trying to be strong, even though it was hard, he knew that Natasha would want them to go on and not for them all to sit here, acting as if they had all died already.

"Michael, I can't" said Dom as he replied.

"You cannot say that you can't because you need to" said Michael as he replied.

"Joy needs you, you think she would like to see her father like this?? You are supposed to assure her that everything will be okay, but how can you, when you look like this" said Michael as he spoke the truth and Dom looked away.

Michael was right, Joy could not see him like this, even worse than he was in the morning, which was why he was grateful that she was with his mother right now, because he needed to pick himself up.

"We know, we know that you blame yourself, we all do" said Michael.

"But you need to brace up and take charge" said Michael.

"Because at the end of the day, you were her husband, under the law, no matter all the problems you guys had, you were still her husband, so act like it Dom, and stop being a coward" said Michael as everyone else kept quiet.

Michael knew that he sounded harsh, but Dom needed to hear this, all the time he had support Dom, and he had supported Natasha secretly, but now he was tired, he was on Natasha's side, he always had been, because she was a saint, the only sin she committed was loving Dom more than she loved herself.

"Dom, do you hear me? Listen to me be a man" said Michael as now he felt anger, he felt anger, Natasha needed justice, she deserved it.

"I hear you" said Dom silently as he knew Michael was right, he was being a coward, he was shying away when he was supposed to step up.

"Good, now go and speak to Grandfather, because he will listen to you" said Michael as Dom looked at him.

"Alright" said Dom as he sighed, he could feel his headache coming back.

In that same moment Dom's phone suddenly rang, as everyone looked at him, he had forgotten to put it on silent.

Dom removed his phone from his pocket, and he did not even check who was calling him as he answered the call and he put it to his ear.

"Hello…" said Dom as he waited for a reply.

"*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*" came the knock on the door of Ernest office as Dom was standing there and waiting but he heard no reply, he knew that his Grandfather was in there, there was nowhere else he would be.

Dom knew that if he was going to wait for a reply, he would stand here forever, so he just opened the door as he saw his Grandfather sitting on his armchair, looking utterly depressed.

"Grandfather…" called Dom as he walked into Ernest's office and he closed the door behind him.

"What do you want?" asked Ernest, his voice was not cold or serious, but rather it was tired and helpless.

"Grandfather, how are you doing?" asked Dom.

"How do you except me to feel? People I love are dying all around me, and It is my fault" said Ernest.

"Grandfather, it is not our…" said Dom as he was caught off.

"A family is now gone… because of our family" said Ernest.

"Grandfather it is my fault…" said Dom.

"If only I had taken care of Natasha like you had told me to, then none of this would have happened" said Dom.

"I don't need this now Dominic, please… just leave me alone" said Ernest as Dom went silent.

"Grandfather the police called…" said Dom as he spoke and Ernest looked at him.

"They said that we can take Natasha's body now, and give her a proper funeral" said Dom as he felt like hurting himself for saying such words.

As soon as Ernest heard the words body and funeral, he immediately began to cry, as Dom just let him do so, even he wanted to cry, but he just could not, Ernest was right about one thing, their family had killed another family, father and daughter both gone, because of him.
