Kapitel 2: Unexpected Company

"Hah! So you're really going to ditch me in the middle of the reception event?!"

I'm fuming mad. Mark's supposed to be the one accompanying ms throughout the whole wedding up to the after party but now he's nowhere to be found. He literally dashes to where his previous girlfriend at for some personal reasons according to him.

"Nathan's there," he said on the other line. The noises from other cars crossing the traffic. It seems a heavy one as I can clearly hear how the horn honks on the background. "You can ask him to escort you until the party ends," he added.

Irritated, I hurriedly hung up the call.

Heaving a deep sigh, I could only walk around the venue hall to look for a table that's close to having no guest seated at all. My eyes wandered and scanned each of the seats until it landed on a particular one right in the corner of the room. It is located beside the prosthetic cherry blossom tree.

A smile creeped out of my lips in thoughts of having some time alone ranting on how Mark left despite of promising to be by my side the entire day and throughout the night. But that smile instantly fall into a frown as I saw who's sitting on the table.

Lincoln Sandoval.

My hands hastily moved to fix the ruffles of my dress. It shouldn't look like a mess from all the foot stomping that I did earlier if I were to sit with the man and share a table with him. I should look presentable, enticing if I may in order to not embarass myself in everyone's eyes. Especially when they knew I am to marry Lincoln.

With confidence I start to walk my way towards him. I can hear my heels clanking on the floor – as well as the loud banging on my chest. Facing him and sitting on a table with him is not the reason why I'm feeling this way. I'm sure of that. Perhaps, it is because of the other guests who keep on gossiping on when our wedding would be held.

"What brought you here?" Lincoln asked the moment I pull the chair carefully and sat on it. His eyes didn't even bother to throw glances on me as they were focused on the screen of his phone.

Out of annoyance with what is happening to me right after the wedding ceremony I decided to ignore his question and focused on the newlywed couple who are now giving their speeches. My lips twitching in a delightful smile while listening on how the two promised to love each other for as long as they lived.

"If only you agreed on the marriage then ours would be better than this," I heard Lincoln said on top of the loud music that instantly plays for the couple's first dance as husband and wife.

Gazed focused on Maria and her husband, I lamely replied to Lincoln's statement, "I'm not interested in being your trophy wife." My nails gently tapping on the table covered in white cloth with laces on the ends of it as I shift my gaze to him then back to the ones who are dancing in the middle of the crowd.

"One way or another you're going to marry me anyway," he replied, giggling afterwards.

And that's when the reality hits me. Lincoln was right. Whether I like it or not I am tied up with the fact that I am destined to marry him. An arrangement of our parents which we can disagree at all. The two of us holding the title as the heir of our family and both our parents wanted to us that advantage to strengthen their power in the business industry.

Although our parents agreed on giving us the time to enjoy our lived in our twenties and work on developing a sense of affection towards each we never did. We almost but to no vail it didn't work out.

"Right," I said almost like in a whispering way. "But maybe you should scrab your aching body first so you won't go around flirting with some other girls right before the wedding day," I added as my head turn to his side to look at him straight in the eyes.

Lincoln's forehead creased at what I've said and it draws a triumph smile out of my face. In all honesty, Lincoln is a scary man. He's not easy to deal with.

Maybe today he'll show someone how much he care and by the next day left them hanging on his fake assurances of being there all the time. There are even instances that a woman would barge in his office while we're in the middle of a meeting only to cry on how Lincoln used her as a past time.

"I'm a changed man," he claimed as he gave me glares. It is as if telling me to be careful of what I'm stating.

I simply nodded my head in response. It's a wonderful and special day. I shouldn't argue with Lincoln just for this once.

The event went smoothly as what is planned. All of the attendees looked absolutely happy for the couple. Their eyes staring at the two with adoration with how great they appears to be so in loved.

Even I can't hide the happiness that I'm feeling. I wish Maria the best, hoping for her to have a great married life. And the time has come. The next thing I knew I was standing a few feet from the bride and waiting for her to throw the bouquet.

When she finally did, I tried my best to avoid the flower but to my disappoinment it landed directly on my hand as I stepped on the left in attempts to escape away from this little ceremony of deciding who gets to marry next. My eyes blinked rapidly while others, mostly our friends shouts amd screeches at how beautiful the wedding would be. I and Lincoln's wedding.

The silk ribbon on the bouquet falls lamely on the ruffles of my dress as I turn around only to meet Lincoln's jade eyes. His orbs almost turning dark while staring at me. Into my soul if that's even possible.

I watched as his fingers run through his well styled hair along with the loosening of his necktie. His eyes never dared to leave mine as he do so. The noise from the crowd seems like it was turned down until it's completely muted as I could only focus on him.

The whole situation made me speechless. Walking back to my seat, I almost tripped on my feet and fall on the floor if not only for a pair of arms that prevents my body from making contact with the cold floor.

My eyes dramatically gaze up to the owner of them as if I don't know who it was by the built of his body. Who else could it be but Lincoln himself. He's throwing me glances as he carefully leads me back on our table. Hands securely holding on my arms until I was seated.

"I told you," he started talking softly with his fingers pinching my shoulders a bit. "You're bound to marry me," he added before walking towards the groom.

I scoffed at what Lincoln said, can't help to feel the annoyance again within me. Watching as his broad back move while paving his way towards the groom who invited the groomsmen for a picture.

Once I'm finally left alone, the murmurs of other guests resonates the air. Each of their words and speculations of what a beautiful family would I and Lincoln will become got my nose crinkling.

After quite some time sitting and laughing at the newlywed couple, the reception slowly ceases it's finale. And since the groom and bride needs some time alone, it us– the part of single club attended the after party.

A loud breath of relief fell off my lips as finally I was able to get change into a much comfortable clothing. The gown that I'm wearing earlier instantly got dump on the middle of the bed as I hurriedly went for the bathroom to take a shower.

As the warm water trickle down my skin thoughts about Lincoln suddenly crowded my brain. It goes over and over the what ifs that we could be after the wedding. Or how our marriage life would turn out.

Staring at my reflection through the fogged up mirror, my hand instantly trails the ridges of my shoulder blades down to the curves of my body. Adoring how my appearance shows. I look good. Perfect for the title of being a trophy wife.

After my relaxing bath, I paces inside my walk in closet to get a new set of clean clothes to wear. The venue for the after party is in a club so I decided to put on a warm tone crop top that shows my slightly chiseled abdominal muscles. I paired it up with a denim jeans and black wedges for my footwear.

Once settled together with the light make up that I put on, I hurriedly got out of my unit. I casually opened the door and what greets me as soon as a I pull the door open got my heart racing in nervousness.
