Kapitel 17: Chapter 17: Isaac is Found in His Natural Habitat

Isaac went back to work on cloud nine. Every time he thought of Sean, which was often, a smile would stretch over his face. Most of his doubts had been washed away on that beach, leaving a smooth calm behind to bask in the remaining joy and affection.

The feeling lasted all of two hours before disappearing in someone’s camera flash.

Blinking spots out of his eye, he turned to see a teen girl giggling as she rounded a shelf out of sight.

Unease bubbled in his gut, but he tried to ignore it and find that happy calm he had before.

All throughout the rest of his shift, he felt like there were eyes on him. More teen girls came into the store than usual, too, and he didn’t miss the connection. They all kept looking at their phones and giggling, some of them making eye contact with him.

He put a stack of reshelves on the customer service desk, eyeing a pack of girls suspiciously.

Lawrence was at the desk, printing out the paperwork for a pickup order. “What’s up?”
