Kapitel 25: Sleepless Under the Covers

Jessie tossed and turned. With the covers over her, she was too warm. Without them, a chill created goosebumps along her bare legs. But all of this was inconsequential compared to the ache of loneliness that consumed her.

Seeing Min Jun as purely professionals at the bakery was torture when all she could think about was how good his hands felt on her body. How much longer would it take to make peace with her past? Too long if it lasted even one more second.

She swung her legs over the side of the bed and sat up. She straightened her tank top, which had twisted in the night, and slid her feet into the fluffy pink slippers Steph had given her for Christmas last year. She ran a hand over her face as she imagined Min Jun stretched out on the bed behind her, the patchwork quilt her grandmother had made covering him to the waist. His hand rubbed her back, easing the tension of the day.
