Mara eyed the last miniature blueberry scone from her place in the armchair in Loma's living room, engaged in an internal battle to not abandon the rules she'd set for herself. She glanced at the clock on the wall behind the couch where Loma and Zoe sat.
Five minutes.
If neither of them took it in five minutes, she was going to eat it herself.
They had asked her to stay and help them with the snacks Zoe had brought because they said they couldn't finish them alone. And they were talking so much, they probably wouldn't even notice it anyway.
The only reason she hadn't taken the scone already was because both women were pregnant, and Wren had warned her that pregnant women need to eat a lot or they get cranky. Enough bad stuff had already happened, she didn't want them to get cranky because they were hungry on top of it all.
Mara sat up straighter. She really should get more credit for doing the right thing.
I'm just so happy Loma has a friend to bond with. Also, Ozul is such a good boy for following the rules...this time.
