Alaric walked Cosmos to the stables, exhausted from a day of listening to the acolytes argue yet again about their role in bringing the still absent Ciprian to heel. The horse followed close beside him, pressing its muzzle now and then against the back of his neck as if sensing the tension of his thoughts.

He was beginning to think that the thing the Order excelled at the most was wasting time. Perhaps because they had more of it than anyone else, they'd forgotten that while they were working toward living forever, the world still turned around them.

Sonia was only concerned about protecting the innocents amongst the Order and the non-magical folk, and she was ready to take up arms to do so if necessary.
