Kapitel 105: The Death of Red Bama part 9

Alex PVs

Shortly after lunch, Bob Lee, and little Mary went to the house where Bob grew up.

As Bob Lee drives the car down familiar roads, the past comes to mind and I let off steam. "You know Bob, I hated spending weekends at your house because of June, but I loved playing with you, so I never told anyone what she did and said."

Bob looks at me guiltily and says. "She regretted it, in the end, she realized her mistakes and was finally able to forgive daddy and apologize to grandma Mary.

Her only regret was not being able to be the mother you needed and deserved."

listening to Bob's words, I looked at Grandma Mary's house. "Mom... I don't think I ever saw that in June, but I could be wrong, I mean I looked at you and my little Mary. It proves that at least she wasn't as wrong as we thought."

Mery listening to everything that was said asks. "Uncle Alex, didn't grandma like you?

But why, wasn't she daddy and uncle's mother?"

When Mary said those words, I looked at Bob Lee strangely and said. "You didn't say anything to Mary about me?"

Bob Lee avoided looking at me and ignored my question. "Little mouse, daddy is uncle's brother only on his father's side, uncle never knew his mother, my mother didn't like an uncle because of his mother."

Mary looked at me with tears in her eyes, ran into my arms, and said. "Uncle Alex didn't have a mommy, that's so sad... Uncle if you want I can borrow my mommy, but just a little!"

I was startled by the tears, but I laughed at the words. "Hahaha... No need princess, you're at the stage where having your mother around is essential, while I'm past the age of needing a mother, but the main reason I don't want your good intentions is that I already had a mother, she had the same name as you!"

"And who is that person?"

"It's your great-grandmother and my grandmother Mary.

Despite growing up without a mother, I had Grandma Mary and Grandma Lala, and that more than made up for the absence of a mother and father."

Mary is silent, but Bob Lee says. "Our childhood was complicated and our father was not very present in our lives during childhood.

That's why I want to retire soon and spend all the time in the world with you."

"It's a beautiful and touching scene, but I thought I'd spend the weekend here, what do you think Bob?"

Bob thinks for a while and says. "Well... I need to talk to Julie and if she's willing, I'll take it. Okay?"

"Just tell her it's Mary's first camp, I think she'll be fine with that."

Bob is thoughtful and says. "Yes, I think this might work."

By the time we finished planning the weekend, we had arrived at the house where Bob Lee spent his entire childhood into adulthood.

Then we went on a sightseeing tour where Bob told Mary a little about his childhood, the tour ended at five o'clock in the afternoon. We've decided to go to the cemetery now, as little Mary has heard hundreds of stories about our family and it's all fresh in her little head.

••••

Upon arriving at the Cemetery, our first stop was the Tomb of June Swagger, who was buried next to Earl Swagger.

When I see Dad's grave, I tell Mary. "Here's Mary, this is Grandpa Earl Swagger and Grandma June Swagger. They weren't the best parents in the world, but they did their best to raise us. I love Dad so much. Say hello to them."

Bob Lee was speechless at my words and said. "If that's how you're going to describe people to your niece, I'd better do it!"

"Relax, I'm not going to lie to my princess, I told the truth and didn't lie in a single word. If you think I made a mistake or forgot something, just interrupt me."

After paying our respects to them, we went to the grave of grandpa Charles and grandpa Marcos. "Look here Mary, this is my grandpa Charles and his best friend grandpa Marcos. I didn't know grandpa Charles personally, but I was named after him and I heard many stories about him, grandpa Marcos is grandma Lala's husband and I know him my whole life, he wasn't my grandpa by blood but he took care of me and taught me many things, he was a real grandpa, even though he didn't have the same blood as me."

Mary was impressed and speechless, Sean was thrilled and spoke up. "Marcos would be happy to hear you describe him that way to your niece."

"I didn't lie about a single comma in that description, I didn't lie about anyone in this cemetery. That's how I felt about Grandpa Marcos..."

By the time we were done meeting and introducing our family to Mary, it was evening, so we had dinner with Sean at the restaurant near the cemetery and I took the father and daughter home.

Tomorrow is a new day, who knows what the future holds.
