Cameron's voice softened as he spoke, his eyes searching hers. "You can mask your love for me under all that anger, but I know, deep down, you still have feelings for me. I remember bits and pieces of last night..."
Ava stiffened at his words but didn't respond, her gaze fixed out the window. She couldn't bear to argue with him anymore, not after everything. Her silence was her shield, her way of holding on to the little control she had left. She refused to let him see just how much his words affected her, how much of her heart was still tangled up in the mess of their past.

Cameron had already stepped out, moving around the car. He opened her door without a word, standing there, his eyes watching her expectantly.
