Eleonore’s POV

I had been held up in the room for days.

Nothing since the initial demon attack had happened yet, and I wondered what it was that Bastian had been able to do to keep the demon so quiet. I could still feel my magic beating inside of me, the one thing that had been able to bring me solace over these past excruciating days was that fact.

But very little.

And very little else.

My hands would barely leave my flat stomach, as well. It was something jarring to think that there was something growing there, inside of me. Something that I had to protect with my entire body and my entire life. In this moment it was when I wished I could have my mother beside me, to ask her if this was what she had felt, too, with me. To ask her for advice.

F*ck, to ask her anything. To speak to her even for a moment, to hear her voice for even less than that... I’d give up all of the magic inside of me to have that less than a moment with them.
