"Urghhh." I say while holding my shoulder to keep pressure on the wound. "Annabeth get my backpack, I left it on the third floor." I tell Annabeth who was panicking.
"B-But, w-what are w-we goi-" said Annabeth while her breathing kept getting faster and faster as she was most likely having a panic attack.
"Hey hey calm down." I tell her while releasing my shoulder and placing my now bloody hand on her cheek. "I am fine okey? I just need some alcohol and bandages and I will be good to go."
"B-But... okey, I w-will get them." replied Annabeth while hardening her expression. I might even have thought it was cute if not for the fact that I was slowly bleeding to death, after all the spear went right through my shoulder and was removed by the dying monster with her last strength in order to kill me as fast as possible.
Once Annabeth was gone, my strong expression slightly crumbles, as pained grumbles escape my mouth.
"Kehe...he...he, I will... see you... in tartarus..." said the green monster while turning to ashes.
My face, who was contorted in pain suddenly gained a hateful light. "Really? I suppose you and your sisters will be there to welcome me then... after all I just sent them ahead of you." I reply with anger laced in my tone. "You think I care for you? Do you think I care for your pain? Your kind hunts us down like nothing else in the world matters. You threatened to eat us for god's sake and now you are angry we defended ourselves? Stop the vengeful act and die already you disgusting worm." I continue, venting all my frustrations and hatred on the now almost gone snake creature.
"You filthy... demigods... acting like you... are not the same. I curse you! May you loose your sister like I lost mine!" she said with red eyes and a venomous tone as her body finished dissolving, leaving nothing more than words on the wind.
"Really?" I say looking at the ashes with contempt. "Well I don't give a sh-"
"I am h-here!" said Annabeth while panting, interrupting my words and making my expression change back in an instant. "Here you h-have the bandages and here is the alcohol." she said while taking them out of the backpack.
"Good. Now I am going to need your help here so bear with it okey?" I tell her. We usually patch each other up, but this is the worst wound either one of us has received so far so I am worried she won't be able to handle it.
"Okey!" she said while toughening her expression once again, her grey eyes resembling a storm.
I smile slightly seeing her so serious and worried... it feels nice having someone to care for you. As I begin taking my clothes of, the bleeding increases and the pain grows as well. "Okey now use alcohol to clean the wound." I say while bitting my bloody and broken sweater.
Annabeth, with slightly trembling hands, proceeds to open the alcohol bottle and pour some of it on the open wound, making me almost pass out from the pain. "Okey, now the bandage right?" she asks, her hesitation leaving and being replaced with a sense of urgency.
"Yes." I reply. "Make sure it is tightly held together."
"Sure." she answers before grabbing the bandage and bathing them slightly in alcohol to clean them just in case. As she starts covering my wound with it, I feel my consciousness flickering, leaving me in a strange state between awake and asleep, guided only by the pain and Annabeth's encouragement words. As I feel my consciousness about to leave me, I look at Annabeth's worried eyes with a small smile. "Grab their weapons, we can... stay here for today..." I say before darkness overtakes me, plunging me into a deep sleep.
Opening my eyes, I feel a heavy weight on my chest which causes me to look down. Curled up next to me with her arms around my body is a small blonde girl. "Sigh, if you fall asleep so comfortably who is going to keep guard smart girl?" I ask rhetorically while straightening up. Touching my shoulder, I feel the texture of the bandages that cover up my wound, which still hurts.
My movement causes Annabeth to wake up and, after a small yawn, she looks in my direction while her eyes widen. "You are up!" she screams, making me wince a bit.
"Yes I am." I reply calmly. "Why do you sound so surprised though?" I ask her with a raised eyebrow.
*Sniff*
"It has been four months you idiot!" she says while holding back small tears.
My eyes widen at this... I left her alone for so long? "I am sorry! Please don't cry, look I am fine now see?" I try to comfort her.
"Heh, gotcha!" she says while a smile blossoms on het face, which in turn makes several veins pop on my forehead.
"Ahhh I see, a small prank I suppose?" I ask with a creepy smile.
"Yes, muahahaha." she replies while standing up and making a villain pose. "I got you back for scaring me so now we are even." she says while nodding to herself.
"Sigh, you really scared me there you know?" I say while shaking my head and looking at her sadly. "I thought I left you alone for a while."
She calms down and sits next to me, hugging her knees between her arms. "I thought you would." she replies in a low tone. "There was so much blood... and... and..."
"Its okey, I am here now see?" I reply, interrupting her soft sobs. "I won't leave you alone, so you have nothing to worry about okey? I promised you after all." I say while ruffling her already messy hair.
"I... I just don't want to loose you. I don't want you to leave me." she said, looking at me with small tears on the corners of her eyes.
"Don't worry, I won't go anywhere." I reply. "But you can't leave me either." I say while hugging her with the arm that isn't hurt. "It will be us okey? We will take care of each other." Yes, I have noticed it already... in fact I noticed it a while ago... human really aren't meant to be alone, and in this cursed world with monsters hunting us, we really only have each other.
