Kapitel 71: Frey Family

After the successful mission of hunting down the grand abyssal beast, the members of the party moved toward their mission center. There came a surprise for them in disguise. When Aveda torched up her signal of completion to their mission center, another torch was sent as a reply to her message signal. Signal torches are a kind of communication talisman that is used to communicate with the blue moon pavilion. It can only be used by the token carried by the captain of a hunting group. It was used when the hunting team was stuck in a danger and wanted backup or when the mission is completed. Only in a very few chances will the signal torch will get replied. Let's say it once in a million.

The signal torch was not something like a signal flare to be shot in the sky to indicate their location or something. Instead, it looked just like a tablet shaping like a smaller form of a kite shield. A tablet made with the heartwood of ten thousand years redwood but varnished to crimson. It was made with redwood because of the high rigidity the wood provided. The tablet had a length of three inches and a width of two inches and the name of the party was engraved into it. When the party leader or anyone who holds the tablet wants to signal the Blue Moon, they shall pass their mental energy into the tablet. The injected memory should contain the message. In other words, the user should imagine themselves telling their message while injecting their mental strength into the tablet. Once the message is over they have to interrupt their mental energy with their soul or spirit energy. This will cause the tablet to flicker twice.

If the interruption of spirit or soul energy didn't take place the tablet will only flicker once and that was a signal for an emergency. Unless it was an emergency no one shall use the emergency signal. If it was done the tokens of the particular party will be banned for six months. They can't venture in the name of the blue moon for six months. In other words, the Blue Moon will take away its protection from them for six months. Six months is more than enough for a hunter to get killed. As a hunter, they would often offend the nobles and if the Blue Moon took away their protection from the hunter then they tend to be doomed. Because of these rules, no one dares to use an emergency signal for a spam signal.

When Aveda was sending her signals to indicate the completion of the mission, the tablet flickered twice. She stared at it for a moment and put a cheeky smile on her face where there formed wrinkles from the sides of her nose towards the sides of her lips. Her cheeks piled up below the lower eyelids. Before she could raise her head at her comrades the token mysteriously flickered twice. Everyone's eyes widened because it is not that easy to receive messages through tokens from the Blue Moon.

As for an exceptional mission, only bigshots were able to issue one. so is the chance for a handsome reward. Because of the mission's high unfinished rate, the pay is given directly from the issuer of the mission to the dealer who dealt with the mission. In other words, the hunters who made their day. That message given by the Blue Moon had the information of the issuer, and it was passed to the party leader through the token the leader has. Everyone was shocked to know where they have to go to collect the money. No one expected such a thing would happen.

June was very surprised to know that the mission was issued by the Frey family. June and Harry were utterly shocked to know that they have to go to meet the elders of the family. As minutes passed by June and Harry were staring at the other members in dissatisfaction. She never wanted her people to know how she lived once. She also wanted to take Lin Cian in and show him every detail her mother town has.

After a series of discussions and opinions, the party decided to give the task of getting the reward into the hands of three people from the party. Harry Lockwood, June Lockwood, and Lin Cian were selected to be the people to enter the town. As for others, they have to watch the town and be alert for any worst possibilities. If something wrong happened the others shall backup the three went to collect the reward from the Frey family.

Harry was reluctant at first for coming into the Frey family. He resisted because the Frey family was the one he hated the most. He refused to answer June's question regarding that. She concluded that maybe he just thought like herself. Maybe he should have thought that 'if only Frey family had not forced Loaren to get out of the family he wouldn't have ended up dead'. Whatever it is she just didn't want to bother him by bombarding him with questions he doesn't want to answer.

However, June convinced him to come with her because she doesn't want to return to her home without her husband for the first time after getting married. So seeing her intention Harry half-heartedly accepted to come to the family at the top of the eagle mountain.

It took a day to travel to the eagle mountain. Even from the base of the mountain, the top of the mountain was covered by clouds. The clouds were struggling to move from one place to another because of the huge structure blocking them. The usual shape of the mountain is like a huge block of wood roughly shaped like a block of glaciers. It stood high as if the glacier would stand despite its color. The top of the mountain doesn't seem to be a tip instead it was flat. The whole mountain looked like a chunk of wood hammered into the earth. It had the rough shape of a cuboid. It was not filled with greens nor did it have any traces of rock. It colored muddy. The reason was it was built using magic and nothing else. Frey's family was not an ordinary family. It was kind of an assassin agency a hundred years ago. They worked for the royal family that ruled the country during those years. The Frey family was secretly trained but they didn't live in a large mountain built with magic. They had their place to live within the territory of the particular dynasty.

After the decline of the royal family that supported the Frey family, the Frey family went into hiding for not to get punished. In those times the punishment for any members of the Frey family or any similar family that were raised by the previous dynasty was killed without question. So the Frey family, with their forces and strength hid in the deep forest. Many of the members were caught and only a few members were able to escape. Each and every member of the Frey family was powerful but they lack food and support. So some of their elders sacrificed their life force in order to raise the land towards the sky with the very few surviving members of the clan.

It was then called the eagle mountain because the mountain reached an extreme height. Half of the mountain is surrounded by clouds so the actual height of the mountain is unimaginable.

Then the population of surviving members became stable and so once again after one hundred years when they wanted their revenge they realized the miscalculation they have made.

All those things happened one hundred years ago. None of them survived. Even the new dynasty which wanted to wipe out the Frey family was wiped out by the dynasty that ruled that time. The Frey family let go of the thought of revenge and shut down their clan afterward. Only members of the clan know how to enter the mountain. So without the help of a clansman, no one can enter.

When the three people arrived at the entrance of the family they could see that the elders of the family are already at the gate welcoming the guests who were there for receiving the rewards for their hard work. But no one thought the tide would turn into a disaster. No one imagined such an outcome. Everyone looked at Harry with utter shock after realizing the truth.
