Kapitel 21: Information

Lucian plopped down on the chair and greeted, "Hello!"

A young was seated opposite to him. Before him was long desk, and on it was a golden nameplate. Kayden Gray was written in black ink on it along with his position— President.

Pressing on his forehead, Kayden lifted his head to stare at his cousin. A solemn look settled in his eyes. That cheery and expectant expression on Lucian's face was already a bad news to him.

"What do you want?" he asked.

"Yesterday was my engagement," Lucian said.

"Oh, congrats," responded Kayden dully before going back to concentrating on the documents on his desk.

Lucian didn't let his reaction faze him and folded his hands on the table, leaning forward. Then, he voiced out, "You didn't attend it."

"I was out of the city, just returned early in the morning today."

'And you are working in the office now?'

Lucian didn't say that out loud. Nonetheless, the serious attitude he showed towards his work never failed to amaze Lucian. It's not that the business would get bankrupt with him resting for a couple of hours.

"Isn't it proper for you to gift me?" Lucian pointed out.

Kayden paused and looked at Lucian questioningly, waiting for him to continue when the door was pushed open. A beautiful woman stepped in, carrying a tray with cup of black coffee and strawberry milkshake.

As she placed the tray on the table, Lucian smiled at the woman, and then, focusing on his cousin, he added, "I want Sarah."

"What?" Kayden was caught off guard, and Sarah showed same reaction as well.

"Lucian, even though you have loose morals, you are an engaged man now. You can't flirt with women anymore, and I already told you that my employees are off limit for you. I have no need for drama and heartbreaks at here," Kayden chastised.

Lucian choked at the accusation.

"What I meant was that I needed her skills. I want her to help look up on something. Just how low do you think of me, Kayden. Even I was forced into this, I am not going to cheat," Lucian stated.

Then, raising his head for stare at Sarah, Lucian asked, "You have no issue with it, right?"

Sarah glanced at Kayden hesitantly.

"My secretary is busy enough as it is. She doesn't need you to add more to her plate," Kayden refused.

"Come on," Lucian whined.

Kayden remained unmoved.

Taking in a deep breath, Lucian raised his palm and raised three of his fingers before proposing, "Three blind dates. I will attend three blind dates in your place, and if not, it will reach aunt's ear on how you made almost all of your blind dates cry. Now, you know how she can get about treating woman right."

How did he even know that? And didn't he talk about loyalty a minute ago?

The corner of Kayden's lips twitched.

Sarah nudged at Lucian with her elbow and teased, "That's your roundabout way of asking to attend those blind dates, right? You don't actually need me."

"I am serious this time. I badly need you, Sarah."

"What about your words from earlier?" Kayden sneered.

"I do promise to not cheat, but sitting across a beautiful woman, dining with her, and getting to know her shouldn't surely classify as that. It is called making friends."

Sarah chuckled at that while Kayden rolled his eyes at his sleazy cousin.

"What do you need Sarah for?" Kayden questioned.

"I need Ms. Ex-detective here to look into someone for me. You used to be top in your field, right, Sarah?"

"That was the case indeed, but it has been years since then," Sarah reluctantly voiced out, "I don't believe I would be of much help."

"Sean and I will be shooting for this advertisement tomorrow and—"

Before Lucian could continue, Sarah beamed and interrupted, "Consider it a deal, Mr. Lucian. Whoever you want information, whatever type of information you need, you can trust me. Just get me his signed fourth mini-album, 'Rough', and those personally designed t-shirt that he released for his sixth anniversary. And also a signed polaroid album of his. They were limited in quantity, so couldn't pre-order then in time.

"Who do you want the information on anyway?" inquired Kayden.

"Valerie Davies. From her medical history to her business records to her lifestyle, I need all details. And also why my mother is so adamant on getting me engaged to Valerie. There is surely a huge secret behind it."

Lucian smiled as he enunciated those words.
