Kapitel 2: Chapter 2: Goodbye Part 2.

The old man finished the suturing in a minute, Thomas sighed, wiping the sweat on his brow with what was remaining of his shirt.

"The lass should be fine after this, I gave her a few sedatives, so she won't feel the pain after waking up in a few hours." The old man said while patting Thomas' shoulder.

Thomas felt relieved and smiled, he felt no pain, just tired. He knew, that once he closed his eyes, and gave in to fatigue, he would be done for.

He thanked the old man after this ordeal, "Thanks, old man. Take care of her for me, I'll repay the favor in the next life if I have one." *chuckle*

The old woman immediately knew what was happening and pulled the curtain off his body only to gasp in the horror of the sight.

Thomas' body was riddled with bullet wounds and was bleeding without pause. Even the old man was out of ideas on how to deal with something like this.

His decades' worth of experiences were screaming impossible at him, witnessing the sight in front of him his eyes went blurry and tears came to his eyes as he looked at him.

The old woman was no better, she was already sobbing as she fell to the ground. Thomas knew that it was the end of the line for him, yet he remained unfazed by it.

"Old man, get me a pen and paper."

Thomas took the pen and started writing with whatever was left in him, he held on with the sheer force of willpower pushing his body to move and remain conscious.

The letter he wrote was smeared in blood dripping from his wrist. He finally sat down holding Silica's hand praying for her wellbeing and a few minutes later he knew that it was the end of the line for him.

He brought his lips near Silica's face and whispered in her ears.

"Sorry for leaving you all alone, sorry for leaving you behind, I know that it will be hard but try and live a happy life for me. I love you." Thomas whispered in Silica's ear and laid his back on the table leg and smiled at the old couple.

"Goodbye old man. Gran, take care of her for me, I will miss your pies, and thanks for everything." Thomas closed his eyes and his consciousness drifted off. The old couple embraced each other and shed tears in the memory of the little boy they knew for all these years.

Thomas POV:

After what seemed like a nice power nap, I woke up.

Yup, I woke up and I am in no way kidding that I was more intrigued than confused when I saw my current self in the mirror.

I looked like a ball of white mist floating around. The old couple was comforting themselves in each other's embrace and the sound of sirens came in blaring.

I tried to approach Silica but just as I thought, I just went through her and it made her shiver in her sleep.

The officers came in the house and took notes as they questioned the old couple and the medics were having a very nice surprise to see that Silica needs little to almost no further treatment, maybe a few tests and a day of monitoring in the hospital, she will be good to go after the stitches are removed.

But the forensic who was checking on what used to be me was left with no words, their expressions were changing like flipping pages in a book.

The senior inspector took the report and looked at it and the forensic expert. He barely stopped the urge to smack the forensic on the head.

I had a nice chuckle, looking as these events transpire.

If you ask me how was I taking my death so nicely and even had the mood to chuckle, I'd say that I knew that this would have happened someday or the other on the battlefield.

You don't become the youngest Major in the Special Forces just like that, there is a certain need to have a few screws missing in the head.

For the suffering part, it was just in the first few minutes, I was way too high on adrenaline to feel any pain or the sort.

I only regret leaving Silica without hugging her one last time, telling her how much I loved her looking in her gentle brown eyes.

Well, with a lot of random thoughts about my uncertain future I followed Silica to the hospital and I was quite surprised if not proud to see how respectfully they handled what used to be me (my body).

Perks of being a young soldier I guessed.

Silica came to consciousness and she found herself in a hospital ward with the old couple sitting beside her while the doctor was looking at her reports.

Well, she was always a smart woman, not more than me (I was a monster in terms of IQ) she realized my absence and the looks that the couple gave her made it even sure.

"Granny, where is Tom?" She asked as she was desperately clutching on the bedsheets as if preparing herself for the worst that was about to come.

The old man took out a piece of paper from his breast pocket with a few red patches.

She held the paper with trembling hands as her tears started streaming down her eyes as she saw my familiar handwriting.

But there was a small hint of a smile on her trembling lips as she saw the letter I wrote for her in immaculate cursive with all that I had left in me.

Dear Silly,

If you find this letter know that I have transcended the realm to meet the fairies in heaven, so don't get jealous, and don't you dare come here before sixty more years to give me and the beautiful fairies a bit of well-deserved privacy.

And with me finally finding fairies, I guess you should accept Theodore's courting. He loves you to the moon and back, but far, far, and far less than me.

So, get married and have a bunch of brats. I left behind all that I had to your name and the nephews and nieces I would have in the future.

Do make sure to tell them about the extreme awesomeness of their uncle. Oh, and give my Hummer to Sammy, and tell him I'll break his legs if he lands even a little scratch on my little darling.

And finally, LEAVE YOUR DAMN JOB!!!!

I made you the youngest multi-millionaire in Britain. You can go shopping all you want but you can't finish what I have left for you. So, take a chill and relax; be a good wife and mother.

PS: Bury the tome in my grave and pass on my piano to the brats and if they choose to be soldiers, just let them and never I repeat NEVER reveal my dark legacy.

The writing was shakier at the end and she was smiling, getting mad, chuckling, and sighing as she read the letter with tears falling down her face.

She wiped her tears and looked at the old couple, as she asked "where is that brat?"

Gramps nodded his head as he supported her to walk as they walked to the next room to see a body covered with a white cloth with two feet sticking out with a tag on the left toe.

She raised her trembling hand to remove the cloth to find what used to be me and held her mouth as tears started sobbing. She almost fell down if gramps was not holding her.

My body had numerous gunshot wounds littered across the torso and some on the legs. But there was a serene look on my face that even the blind would call handsome. *I am not a narcissist*

The next day my former body was buried with proper martial respect and even I was on the verge of tears (if I could cry) as I saw everyone I knew the present and crying as they gave speeches on my memory.

Finally, my grave was marked.

In the loving memory of Major Thomas Grey.

~ By the loving sister, Silica Grey.
