Kapitel 29: Hel

A cloaked figure kneels with its head bowed. Chains are wrapped around it, and a shadowy tentacle coils around its body, so you can't tell if it's female or male. From above, drops of acid fall onto the person's head, and someone else's arms hold a basin out, catching the droplets before they can hit the prisoner.

"I know this story," I mutter. "Loki, the god who was punished by having acid from a snake fall on him and his wife, held a bowl to catch it."

Sarah acknowledged with a nod, her expression showing such sadness that I could almost imagine she knew Loki personally. "An old legend that has some truth to it."

"What does it mean?" I fear the answer, but that is the running theme here.

"That someone powerful wanted your family to go through a great deal." 

"My family?" She nods, leaning forward in her seat and moving the card so I can get a better look at it.

"This is your mother."
