Kapitel 41: Dawn of a New Century
"It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life and I'm feelin good!" I sang, a smile on my face.
Sitting in a comfortable chair which I teleported to the spot I am in.
I relaxed comfortably, watching the sun rise from what would one day be Ellis Island, over one of the greatest cities in human history in my opinion.
New York baby.
Today's date is January 1st, 1701.
Beginning the dawn of the 18th century.
And these ninety years have been filled with a lot for me, and the people I know.
So let me bring you up to speed.
First off, I had another kids.
Actually not just one. I actually had five more kids, bringing the total number of little tykes my boys have produced up to seven.
One of them being a set of fraternal twins.
Which was a shock to not just me and their mother, but to everyone in our household and our friends as well. That's because twins are practically non-existent among the devil race, fraternal or not.
As you well know by now devils have low birth-rates. So even just having one child is a miracle for most devil parents.
Being able to have two will make those parents cry for joy.
But having two kids at the same time, no dice.
I am not fucking with here.
Among devil births, the probability of having twins is less than 5% across the board. That's how low the chances of a devil parents having twins are.
Yet I have a set.
And I love them both with all my heart.
The twins names are Leon, and La Folia. The former being the boy and the latter being the girl. With Leon being the older twin by three minutes.
Their mother is Grayfia.
Elias literally passed out in the waiting room when we showed him his twin grandchildren. I actually made a recording of it. Through all the tears of joy I was crying.
Both of them are wonderful.
The two of them also inherited the silver-hair of the Lucifuge clan, but they got my blue eyes. Leon's hair is also a bit darker thanks to my genes.
Anyway, Leon and La Folia are something else when it comes to strength. Both of them were born with the energy levels of an ultimate-class devil, just like their sister Meredy.
La Folia is a skilled user of magic. Just like her mother she prefers to use ice magic, and she also inherited the Lucifuge clan trait [Power Over Darkness].
As for her brother Leon he is a sword nut, who has been trained mercilessly by both his aunt Esdeath and Scathach. Even so he never complained, and surpassed his limits. Now he is one of the best swordsman in the underworld.
The people are saying that, not Leon. Despite his already monstrous strength he still continues to train and grow.
I am so proud of him.
Also, he inherited the Belial [Worthless] clan trait from me. Which is one of the best tools in his arsenal.
Leon has also already decided to be the next head of house Lucifuge, and has been undergoing training from his grandfather to take over the position during these past ninety years.
Concerning La Folia, she joined the research and technology department, and her specialty is magical formula. Just like Meredy she is a magic nerd to the highest degree. It's why the two of them get along so well.
So yeah, the twins are amazing.
And what makes them even better is I'm sure that when Euclid finally learned of them that sis-con ended up crying tears of blood. I would have preferred if he killed himself, but I know I am not that lucky.
Which is why I am still continuing the hunt for him. As well as his master Rizevim.
But even with military intelligence and all my contacts on it I still can't find a fucking whisper about those two.
Though once again I am not too worried about it. Since I know where they will be in another three centuries.
As soon as they start making moves with Khaos Brigade, I will be there with a Pennywise grin on my face, ready to show them true terror.
Just thinking about it makes me smile like Pennywise even before it happens.
Moving on, while Leon and La Folia are great, they were the second birth that occurred for me during this past 17th century.
The first birth was the birth of my second daughter and third child.
Yuuki Belial.
Who's mother is Scathach.
...
What?
Don't look at me like that. It's not like anyone, especially the two of us expected her to get pregnant. We were just doing it and it happened, not like we're the first.
So anyway, skipping over all the boring stuff Scathach was elated to have a child and I had no issues having another one.
Then Yuuki was born.
She looks like Scathach with purple hair and red eyes, but has my pointed ears. Also, unlike her mother who usually wears a stoic expression on her face she is bubbly and energetic just like her old man.
Yuuki also loves pulling pranks and teasing people. The two of us have had quite a pranking ride over this last century, and we are still far from done.
Also, the relationship between me and Scathach has only grown stronger. Despite Yuuki coming into the picture only a few months after she became my queen, the two of us deepen our bond and have fostered real and unbreakable feelings for each other.
Scathach even told me once about a decade ago that she has never been happier in all her life and wished to stay with me forever.
When she said that, we both cried and shared a passionate hug.
Which then led us to sharing a passionate night, just the two of us.
I get where she is coming from. For centuries she lived alone in the Land of Shadows Castle Dun Scaith, only training and killing. Then all of a sudden she is in a relationship, and has a child, along with a bigger extended family. That kind of change would make anyone happy I think.
Bottom line is, she is my woman now and I will always protect her.
Enough said.
Also you are probably wondering why our daughter is named Yuuki instead of having a Celtic of British type name right?
Well actually the name was suggested to us by Ririchiyo and Soushi. Both of whom have integrated perfectly into the underworld and devil society by the way.
The two of them also finally got hitched in the 1630's, and are a happily married couple that gushes over each other any chance they get.
Well actually, it's Soushi who does the gushing. He still says embarrassing things about his love for Ririchiyo in front of others with a straight face. Meanwhile his legal loli wife beats him every time he does.
It's not that Ririchiyo doesn't want to show affection, it's just that she's more reserved about it. But Soushi is the complete opposite, spotting about how he loves to ravish her tiny body to anyone who will listen.
It's hilarious to watch.
So yeah, that's why mine and Scathach's daughter is named Yuuki. Which is not bad at all considering that Yuuki means courage in Japanese. When I told Scathach this she readily agreed to the name without hesitation.
Our Yuuki is the embodiment of courage anyway.
Not only did she join the national army like Eugeo, but without any help from me she got into the Order of The Black Knights all on her own. And working under Albedo takes massive amounts of courage from what her subordinates say at times.
In addition to being in the military Yuuki is working to revive the Belias Extra Demon clan, since she inherited my [One With Nature] clan trait.
So like I said, she is a go-getter who does anything to get what she wants. Yuuki is also a master in several forms of combat and weapons, and can kill ten grown men in fifteen different ways in under five minutes, all with just her own body. Courtesy of the training Scathach has given her.
She has also given me some training as well.
I asked Scathach to show me how to use the spear. I found myself liking the weapon, and wanted to add it to my arsenal.
She obliged me.
And the teacher trained this student very well. She even punished me harshly when I messed up, and what good punishments they were.
Ah, good times.
In the end however, I have come to be an expert in spearmanship, and am in the process of crafting a spear for myself.
Now then, let's talk about my last two children.
Their names are Callum and Leohart. The former's mother is Esdeath, while the later is mine and Zest's child. Callum was born 60 years ago, while Leohart is the youngest having been born 50 years ago.
And yes, Callum is named afer my deceased uncle. Esdeath was the one who suggested it to me. When she did I wholeheartedly agreed.
As did the rest of the family.
It is our way of carrying on my uncle Callum's will and his legacy.
However my child Callum is nothing like his uncle Callum.
And by that I mean he's a delinquent!
He hasn't joined the army, or has a stable source of income. No matter what his mother, I , or anyone else in the family says to him he just brushes it off. I've tried talking to him, being strict with him, and even training him into submission, but that boy, he just doesn't want to listen to anyone.
Callum is always going around getting into fights. Then about thirty years ago he started going off on journeys across the supernatural world, all by myself. Which he still continues to do until this day.
I mean he has the strength of an ultimate-class devil and inherited Esdeath's clan trait and his a master of it, but still....I worry about him.
This is definitely how my parents must've felt when I gave them the brush off in my previous life.
Looks like that saying is true.
What goes around, comes around.
Though despite everything Callum is a good boy at heart. Sometimes when he returns back from one his "outings" as he likes to call them he brings back refugees from other parts of the supernatural to live in that protected region I've been able to set up on the territory that was given to me when I became a Maou so long ago.
I call the place, Garden of Eden.
Another giant middle finger to the deceased big G and the angels and the church.
Moving on, Garden of Eden has turned out just like how I wanted. Several species from the across the supernatural world have come and settled there, all of whom are under my protection. Exorcists, yokai, even some fallen angels and some giants from the Greek Pantheon. All of them live there, and pretty much get along.
When the rest of the supernatural world discovered this they made a fuss.
But then I pointed out that there people wouldn't have come to Garden of Eden if they had done a better job of looking out for their needs. I also handed over any and all criminals I knew to be truly guilty if they tried to enter Garden of Eden, so that just down any noise from the complainers.
This sanctuary also raised my standing in devil society even more. Since some of the creatures who moved into Garden of Eden decided to join a few of peerages of some trustworthy devils I knew.
The look Zerkam had on his face when learned of this was one of pure and utter dread.
I was actually able to get a picture of that, and I look at it every time I have a bad day.
The good times have just been rolling then.
Anyway, there is my final child and youngest son Leohart.
He is strong just like his siblings, but unlike him is taking a different direction with his life.
Leohart has become a chef, and opened up his own restaurant within the Belial territory.
All of which I am fine with. His cooking is amazing, and he told me one day he dreams to have a chain of restaurants all across the underworld.
To which I agreed to support him in.
After all, the fastest way to people's hearts is through their stomachs. So by supporting my son I can get an even greater following amongst the people of devil society.
Ku,ku,ku.
Moving on, that's it for my kids.
All my wives are doing great.
Scathach and I got married 50 years ago. Since then she has opened up her own martial arts school and its super popular within the underworld.
It's name is Cobra Kai.
And just like it's namesake it has the same motto.
Strike hard, strike hard, no mercy! But only to enemies and those trying to fuck with you.
That last add on was from me.
Anyhow, the only lover I have that I am not married to is Treyni. But since she hasn't brought it up and is not jealous at all we are in a good place. I actually think Treyni doesn't even want to get married or have children, she just likes being loved and I am more than happy following her wishes.
Now then, let's continue.
So first up, this is going to shock you to your core. I just wanted to let you know beforehand. Anyway here it is.
Kaido had a kid.
And with Tiamat of all people.
Her name is Ulti.
To describe her is a battle maniac with a foul mouth and delinquent-like tendencies. She is also incredibly strong. But when her parents are a demi-god dragon turned devil who is at the pinnacle of satan-class, and one of the last remaining dragon kings who is said to be the strongest amongst them, it's no wonder Ulti has so much power.
She appeared completely out of left field by the way.
One day Kaido returned from one of his many expeditions, and this time he had a baby with him. He then told us casually she was his and Tiamat's child.
The moment he did I strangled him and ordered him to tell me al the details.
Which he did.
So apparently over the decades Kaido kept going back to the familiar forest to challenge Tiamat. And thanks to his training and battles in the underworld he got strong enough to actually get her attention.
Then he went on about how dragons are creatures of power and drawn to others who are creatures of power, yada yada yada, one thing led to another and the two of them ended up fucking after they finished fighting when Kaido began challenging her again.
Thus Ulti was born.
But since Tiamat wanted to stay in the familiar forest and didn't want Ulti to grow up in such a place, Kaido brought her back to live with us.
I almost pinched by brow off that day. I really did.
But in the end since Kaido is family, that made Ulti family too.
Thus another kid joined our ranks.
She is the same age as Callum by the way.
Also, Kaido isn't a bad father. He trained Ulti and taught her manners. He loves her, and she loves him despite how she talks to him half the time. Kaido just brushes it off.
One the fiercest people I know has become an old-man dad.
Time really does change all.
Anyway, let's talk about peerages now.
Mine hasn't grown at all. I'm am just going to be honest.
The people I want to add have no been born yet, so until they are or until I find some other good candidates I am not growing my peerage. Besides, I think my peerage is pretty powerful already.
Especially since Soushi is now able to transform into a full blown Kitsune, and Ririchiyo can now actively control Telos Karma.
Despite this the legal loli hasn't achieved Balance Breaker yet. Though for right now that's fine.
Moving on, although my peerage hasn't grown the same can't be said for other people I know.
Sirzechs has recruited Bahamut, Enku, and Beowulf. Over half his original peerage. The only ones missing are Surtur the Second, Souji Okita, and finally MacGregor Mathers. All of whom will join in the next three centuries.
Zech's queen is Testrossa by the way.
Just like what he did with Grayfia during canon.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it I supposed.
Following Sirzechs, we have Diehauser. Besides Veronica my little brother has filled up the entire rest of his peerage slots.
First there is his knight which he used both his pieces on. His name is Dino.
A fallen angel.
One day he just showed up at Garden of Eden.
From the reports I got about him I learned he is nicknamed the Wandering Sloth.
During the Great War Dino was a commander directly under Barakiel. But after the war ended he decided to travel the world.
I learned that not only was Dino a skilled swordsman and a user of light magic, but he is also a master of illusion magic and spells.
The moment I learned this I introduced him and Diehauser to see if he would want to join is peerage.
It would go a long way towards permanent peace after all, than this cold-war centuries long bullshit we of the three Christian factions have going on.
Back to what I was saying.
Dino agreed to become Diehauser's knight and his skills are the real deal. I've seen him in action. Now if only we could get him to be a little less lazy, he would be perfect. Because seriously, Dino is just that lazy.
He's even worse than Falbium and that's saying something.
After Dino, we have Diehauser's only bishop.
A former human magician named Olga Marie Animusphere.
Marie is from a family of magicians in London. When her father died she took over the family's research and decided to summon a devil and create a pact to further it along.
That devil was Diehauser.
Once the summoning took place the two of them got to talking, and she decided to become his bishop. All of her family was gone in the human world anyway, and since she is a magic nerd she wanted access to our premium devil technology. So here she is.
Marie has her own private laboratory set up at a Devi-tech facility. Where she spends most of her time.
Next after Marie, we have Diehasuer's two rooks.
Twin yokai brothers named Gozumaru and Mezumaru. Gozumaru being the older brother.
Diehauser recruited them a short while after I brought Soushi and Ririchiyo back from Japan.
Seeing the hidden gems I found Diehauser took a trip there himself, and came back with the twins.
Along with a creature that took three of his pawns.
A Raiju.
They are wolf-like beasts that can control lighting within Japanese mythology. They are also usually the companions of the Shinto lighting god Raijin. Yet Diehauser somehow found one and tamed it.
We have named him Sparky.
He's great with all the kids in the territory and is even house-trained.
Following the three peerage members from Japan, Diehauser has two more.
The first is a human/dragon hybrid named Christian Tar. But in the draconic tongue his name is Kirtash. He is a former mercenary who Diehauser encountered 40 some years ago on a trip here to Earth.
At that time the two of them fought, and once Kirtash lost he joined Diehuaser's peerage, taking up three pawns.
The last member of my little brother's peerage is a young girl named Victoria Walsh. The granddaughter of a witch with fae blood coursing through her veins.
She found her way to Garden of Eden after being chased out of Britian by the church. Then she joined Diehauser's peerage of her own will.
It's also super obvious that she and Kirtash have a thing going on. Even though neither of them admits to anything.
Then again, relationships and love do that to people.
With my little brother and his peerage out of the way, it's not time for my best friend.
Ruval has three peerage members at the moment, all of whom are quite strong.
There is his first knight, a young man by the name of Edward Lampart.
He is from a family of knights and is also a hero descendant. He possess the soul of Edward The Black Prince, and wields the legendary blade his namesake did.
It is a magic sword known as the Ebony Blade.
The blade cannot only cut through magic, but it also makes it and its wielder stronger the longer the battle goes on. The catch it to accomplish this, the Ebony Blade absorbs the negative emotions within the world, and if its wielder cannot handle said emotions they will go insane.
Edward though is able to easily handle it.
But that's likely because he possess the soul of the original wielder of the blade in the first place.
After Edward, is Ruval's two rooks.
The first is an exorcist named Akira Shiba.
Ruval found him on a trip to Japan, and recruited him without wasting a second.
He's a bit stuffy, but he's amicable most of the time.
Also you should see the things he can do when wielding fire. It will blow your mind.
Ruval's second rook is a young woman by the name of Angela Johnson. She is good with swords and wind magic.
Angela is also Edward's younger sister.
The reason they have different last names is because she was adopted into the Lampart family at age six but chose to keep her parent's name.
Even so, those two siblings are close.
But not sweet-home Alabama close.
That's all for Ruval's peerage right now.
Time for the last and final one.
My lovely pink-haired goddess wife, Roygun Belphegor.
She has recruited two more peerage members after eating u-I mean convincing Vandre to join her as her knight.
The first is her one and only current Bishop, a common devil by the name of Henrietta.
She was just an accountant at Devi-tech, but once Roygun saw her skills and got ahold of her, she had no chance of escape.
Because once Roygun gets a hold of you she will eat up without hesitation. She's the most aggressive of my wives, but I like her like that.
Anyway, Henrietta became a member of Roygun's peerage without making a fuss. She is actually a really good girl whose specialties include both magic and archery, just like me.
So I showed her some pointers when I had some free time.
The poor thing almost passed out when I showed up in front of her. Then again I am a Maou, so it's understandable.
Roygun's other new peerage member is a young woman named Meiru Melusine, who has quite the interesting background.
Her mother is human, but her father is actually the most famous hydra in history. The Hydra of Lerna, from Hercules and his tweleve labors.
I don't even want to know how that went down, but it did and Meiru came along. However the girl has never met her father.
And after her mother passed she took up what she knew.
Pirating.
That's right, Meiru was a pirate sailing the high seas before she joined Roygun's peerage.
Her operational ring being the Carribean.
We met her when I took the whole family on vacation there thirty years ago.
That little sadist Meiru tried to rob us.
So we beat her up, and then Roygun claimed her. No matter how much she cried for forgiveness.
Man that was fun vacation. I am going to take the family out again sometime in the next century as well.
Actually I have just decided to do a large century vacation with the entire family from now on. It will be good for everyone.
Moving on, that's all about peerages.
So other than that, nothing much has really happened.
The Rating Games were finally created 70 years ago, but that accursed King Piece still hasn't shown up.
The wiki from my previous life said the pieces would show up in the early days of the Rating Games, but once I realized just how devils actually perceive time I knew that early could mean anywhere from 50 to 100 years.
So once I did I went back to playing the waiting game.
Oh, I discovered the true cause of the Great London Fire of 1666.
It wasn't a fire that began at Thomas Farriner's bakery, but a sacred gear user losing control of their sacred gear and going on a rampage.
I saw the whole thing with my own eyes.
After saving a few innocents souls I saw the exorcists and angels sent to deal with the sacred gear user kill him, a bucket of popcorn in my hand.
While I could have saved them, I decided not to. Their soul had already been degraded beyond repair by the influx of power. Essentially they were a rapid dog that needed to beat down.
I would have done that, had the exorcists and angels not arrived on the scene so quickly.
If they say me it would have sparked a conflict with Heaven, and as a Maou I could not let that happen.
So again, I did what I could, saved who I could, and let them handle the big haul of it.
When I sat there watching the fire of 1666, I got a thought in my mind that was so obvious it wasn't even funny.
Maybe a lot of the biggest natural disasters and tragedies in human history were actually caused by sacred gear users in this world.
The more I thought about it, the more it made sense.
In my last life it was said that Adolf Hitler was obsessed with the occult, and a lot of rumors were flying around that he somehow got ahold of the True Longinus, which is how he able to build up his Nazi party.
Here, that just might be the case.
God is dead, and no one really knows who will end up with what sacred gear until it happens.
So the Hitler in this world could really possess the True Longinus as his sacred gear. Which would partially explain how he was able to build up the Nazi party and start his ethnic cleansing.
From canon I remember the True Longinus had a special ability called [Truth Ideal] which was essentially a silver of the essence of god himself. It allowed people to create the miracles they wanted.
So if Hitler was able to obtain such a power...
Thinking about such things sent a shiver racing down my spine.
It also made me determined to check out Hitler when he was born and keep tabs on him. As well as as dozens of other famous individuals who will appear within the next three centuries.
They are all prime targets for my own peerage after all.
Putting a smile on my face I continued to watch the sun rise of the first day of the new century.
I can't wait to see what is has in store for me.
