Louisa, lifting her ass off the chair, felt like she'd overstayed her welcome and needed to go. But not the man. His hand pressed firmly against her own pulling her back onto the very seat she was springing out of. His grasp was hard yet tender. And did not help the buzz of electricity that tingled up her arm and over the rest of her body.
Maybe he shouldn't have recovered the use of his hands until she was far away… from his side.
"I wasn't done talking." His voice sounded husky and low. "It is the concoction I was given, it should help die down the pain and also behave more like an Elixir."
"What is an Elixir?" Louisa asked, relaxing her body that had stiffened from his touch. She attempted to glide her hand from under his own, but she couldn't.
"An Elixir is something that puts you to sleep, Hazel," Rochester explained. "I stalled in taking it until I saw you but when you wouldn't show up and the pains started to get intense…"
