Lander ushered Lucia inside the manor.
"Welcome... This is my Master's house." Lander said with a smile. Lucia just nodded.
Augustus walked towards the stairs while carrying Louise in his arms.
Lucia hesitated for awhile but she gritted her teeth and followed the man upstairs.
Lander was left all alone in the huge living room then the head butler walked towards him.
"Why is Master back?" He asked.
"Something happened." Lander said with a grim face. He was still pondering about what could happen if they were not there.
"What happened?" The butler asked startled.
"Ms. Morgan was attacked." Lander said shortly.
"What?" The head butler was shocked.
"Yes. Please call the castle that Master isn't coming anymore." Lander told the butler as he walked out.
"O-okay. I will tell them." The butler still couldn't believe it.
Lander didn't explain much to Hugo. He needed to clean up the mess there.
Hugo was left alone and then he went to call the castle to inform about Augustus.
Anyway, he knew Augustus. He will not have the mood to attend the Christmas Ball in the castle if Ms. Morgan is still in danger.
She was his chosen heiress and mistress.
When he was ambushed, Lucia helped him if not, he died that fateful night. Aside from that, Augustus was a friend of the late Jonas Morgan.
If it were not the unforseen events happened, Louise had been brought home by him.
Hugo sighed.
He walked towards the kitchen and told the chef to prepare supper.

At the master's bedroom.
Augustus placed Louise carefully on the bed. The black and gray bed sheets was a direct contrast of her fair countenance.
She really looked like sleeping. Her chest breathes in and out without any hitch. This made the man relieved.
Lucia had been observing Augustus. She noticed the changes in him even though he didn't express it much.
Lost in her thoughts, Augustus asked.
"You have something to ask?" His cold voice rang out and this made Lucia jumped back to reality.
"Well... Don't you have something to tell me?" Lucia asked back, probing.
"Jonas and I were friends. I was supposed to pick you up from the port but something happened. So I asked Luda to find you a house and settle you there." Augustus said.
"So that what happened. So you knew that Louise and I were not mother and daughter all along." Lucia said while observing his reaction.
"Yes. I also was the one who made your papers. When Jonas asked me to prepare something like that, I knew something would happen to him and he was preparing for the worst." Augustus didn't mind Lucia's probing.
As he knew that the woman was still had reservations towards him.
Lucia stayed silent. She connected the dots and found his words convincing.
"Let her sleep here for now. I will tell the butler to prepare her room and things tomorrow. There's a small bedroom here, you can use it." Augustus tucked Louise up and stood up.
"Good night Aunt Lucia." He bid as he walked towards the door.
"Goodnight Augustus, thank you for today. If not for you, I don't know what could happen to Louise." Lucia said with much emotion.
"Mm..." The man hummed, pulled the door a door and walked out.
