Kapitel 66: CHAPTER 65: Blue cambion.

Sirin struggled to keep up with the blue demon. Not because the demon was walking particularly quick. But because Sirin was too distracted by his strange surroundings.

Houses and buildings were floating as if gravity didn't exist. Though they were still connected to the ground in some way, which was a bridge in most cases.

Towering monoliths reached so high that it was as if they tried to pierce the sky.

In the distance a flock of creatures that seemed like a weird mix between a dragonfly and a fish flew past.

The streets were filled with people. some looked like humans, others not so much. There were even some demons and angels. Though the former was more common.

The blue demon noticed Sirin's gaze and smirked.

"I know that it doesn't look like it but were actually in hell. You can even see the no one's land if you're standing on the walls surrounding the kingdom."

Sirin didn't look away from the fish- dragonfly hybrid that had caught his eyes. "It's a lot brighter than what I'm used to. How was that done?"

The blue demon paced his hand on Sirin's shoulder to tell him that he should keep moving. "It's quite a funny story actually. This kingdom was entirely made by the red god, God of fate, the emperor of flame, demon king, Rubedo, or whatever you want to call him. He didn't make it because he wanted a save haven for all creatures, but because its one big middle finger to his siblings."

"Then I would most certainly like to hear why that is." Sirin asked.

For a moment the red eyes of the blue demon seemed to glow a little more than before. "I'm glad that you asked." He said with a grin. " As time rules over the living realms, and space the heavens, so does the demon king rule over hell. His siblings like to keep the realms separate as a mass extinction event happened when the old gods used both the forces from the heavens and hell to try and obliterate existence. This place is probably a massive source of stress for them as they're afraid of it all happening again. But they can't do anything about it because Rubedo never forced or manipulated anyone to come here, it's their own free will."

"For a demon, you are quite talkative about angels and gods. You haven't even given me your name yet. " Sirin mocked while he tried to convince one of those odd dragonflies to land on his hand.

"Oh, right." The blue demon stammered. "I go by Jokul here. And I'm not actually a demon, neither is my brother who was with me when we first met. We're both cambions."

'Truly?" Sirin asked as he narrowed his eyes. Though Jokul looked rather humanoid, it wasn't enough to give away his mixed bloodline. And with the horns, fangs, claws, and tail with bone spikes sticking out of it he could easily pass for a regular demon. "Usually, half demons have a certain vibe around them that tells other demons what they are. How come I haven't noticed it with you?"

Jokul nervously reached out to his horns. An action that could be compared to playing with one's hair.

"That sometimes happens when the demonic parent is exceptionally strong. That along with the fact that that some cambions get more demonic as they get older. I almost looked human when I was a kid."

"And your brother? It kind of sounded like it was different for him."

"Well… cambions can get classified in three different groups. The most common ones are those who stay at some weird place in between demon and a mortal. Then there are the ones like me who become almost indistinguishable from actual demons later in life. And at last, there are the lucy ones like my brother who can switch between full demon and whatever species the other parent was at will." Jokul explained.

"Its not like I'm not happy with my current state." He continued. "It's just that I prefer not to scare the living shit out of my mortal friends whenever I 'appear out of nowhere' in their words."

Sirin rolled his eyes. "Sure, you do."

The rest of the way to wherever Jokul was taking him, Sirin kept asking questions about the kingdom though it mostly ended in Jokul ranting on and on about a random subject.

Eventually they stopped out of nowhere.

The cambion walked up to a statue of an imp holing a scroll. He placed his hand on its skull and its eyes started to glow red.

"You have come here a lot earlier than expected. But he will probably not make a big deal out of it."

Jokul turned to look at Sirin. "A word of advice. Do not ask him about the scar on his chest. He clearly favours you given that you carry one of his scales without dying or getting cursed in the most horrible way. But even that won't save you then."

When he was done talking a massive gate appeared behind him out of thin air. Slowly the doors opened without a sound and the inside of the room was filled with complete darkness."

Fun fact. Jokul’s brother is named lukoj. I didn’t know what to name him, so I asked some folks on Instagram, and this was the best response.
