Kapitel 9: 009

So here he was, looking straight at the tall building in front of him that would be his prison for at least the next two years.

That was what his feelings were telling him currently. He felt uneasy and even a little bit unwilling to start school again the moment he stood here.

But he gave his word. Also, he did know that school life was a rather peaceful and eventful time that should be enjoyed as long as it lasted.

Still, he felt it was a small waste of time. Most of the stuff he will learn will be rather useless in the future.

Though one thing he did acknowledge about this place was how huge it was. For a town with this size near the coast, this was already a state-of-the-art institute.

It had its own fields for various sports. Interestingly enough it was for soccer and basketball instead of football.

And there were even a new set of dorms nearby that only have been built recently. Apparently, the university got a large sum of donations from one of their previous students that hit it rich.

At least that is what Jack thought. Who else could invest in dorms for some old university and also support it to make it more attractive for students all over the states?

No wonder the mayor of this town agreed to whatever it was that made it this way. He probably had gained a lot for himself as well.

Well, putting all that aside Jack just yawned lightly from still feeling a little bit tired and walked through the main entrance.

When he did so some students that he passed started staring at him like he was some sort of attraction.

"Hey, who do you think that is?"

"Don't know, but he looks hot, doesn't he?"

'This will be a nuisance...' he thought to himself after noticing the gazes and the whispering. Not that they were trying to be covert about that.

Jack looked around and noticed a bulletin board where various different things were pinned on it.

Close to it he saw a display cabinet for various trophies. That one was so damn obvious to find inside a university that was competitive-oriented.

So there definitely were teams in this university and he could guess that the gym class was a mandatory course. Not that he was against it, but it also meant less free time during the weekdays.

That is if he kept it up seriously.

Looking back at the bulletin board he took a closer look at the information on it.

There were a few club recruitment papers, then a poster for the upcoming spring dance, and some other notices that even seemed to come from the local police like missing posters or warnings.

'Hmm, this college has a spring dance and prom? That's unusual...But then again, this could be my chance to get it done since I didn't do it last time. Come to think, I think I managed to fuck it up this time as well with all the crap going on back when I was with that man.'

Just sighing a little he remained standing there with his hands inside his pockets and contemplating about it for a short moment before he started rummaging inside his shoulder bag.

What he grabbed was a little note from inside it that had some instructions written on it.

Following those, he started walking again and went on to the third floor where the principal's office was located with also a bunch of other offices. Basically, this whole floor was mainly for teaching staff.

Knockin' on the door he waited for some sort of reply and it didn't take long and he heard a "Come in." from inside.

Walking into the room he saw a small roundish woman with a chest size that nearly blew up the suit that she wore. Her dark brown hair was kept above shoulder length and the glasses that framed her stare at him was a very stern one, to say the least.

Not far from her was a young woman standing by that had long braided hair at the back and was also watching him intently.

"Am I interrupting anything?" He raised one brow and looked from one person to the other.

"Nonsense, Annie here is our head of discipline. There were just a few problems to discuss. Now, what is it you want?", asked the plump woman back.

"I see...Well, the name's Jack Frost. I'm supposed to be enrolled here. I came into town this weekend." Jack also pulled out another document from his bag and handed it over to her.

The woman took it and looked it over. "Hmm, yes I remember now. You are pretty late. That doesn't bode well for your grades."

"That is..." Jack tried to explain but was cut short by her.

"No excuses! You are all adults here and if you want to gain better educational attainment you are also to take responsibility for your own actions. Whatever happens in your personal lives, is up to you. I on the other hand want to see you doing well in your studies and nothing else. Do you understand?"

Jack raised both his brows now and stared at her for a moment. She wasn't really saying anything that was wrong, but it felt like there was something venomous in her words.

"I understand...So, about my courses and locker?"

"Mrs. Smith - It's I understand, Mrs. Smith." The girl that was called Annie at the side now said and she seemed a little bit unhappy by the way she frowned.

"Whatever..." Jack was actually annoyed by that comment. There was one thing about gaining respect, but another for forcing it.

"So Mrs. Smith, was it? What is about the asked things now? Can I get this done without having to remind you that I'm not here for fun? Even if it may look different to you? I can agree that I may have screwed up with enrolling late, but I doubt I need to listen to any unnecessary harassment. At least not while I'm the one paying for your services."

That last sentence from him got both Annie and Mrs. Smith shocked for a short moment. They looked at each other.

"Annie will lead you to a free locker. Here are also your courses and a lock pad with the code for it." The principal seemed to change her attitude begrudgingly after taking another look at the documents in her hands.

She then moved over and got all the things mentioned by her from a drawer inside her desk.

'So she had all this pre-prepared and still tried to undermine me.' Jack now knew this woman was all about having control and authority over everything.

Looking at Annie he could already see how well she trained her lapdog.

Jack then only nodded after getting his new stuff and waited for the girl that was probably the same age as him to lead the way.

Thinking about it more he was sure now that she was a college freshman like him. At the very best a sophomore. He had to wonder how she ended up in her position and having a stick so far up her butt.

Both of them walked back down to the first floor and came over to the rows of lockers.

There she unlocked one with a master key she pulled out from underneath her blouse and removed the lock pad entirely.

"This here will be your locker.", she said to him.

"Kinda worrying to see that the head of discipline has a master key for all lockers.", Jack commented on that and stashed most of his books inside the locker and kept only the ones he needed for his french course.

"It is only being used when we have a suspicion of people keeping unauthorized objects or substances." Her explanation was just the most logical one.

Jack was still not convinced by that though.

It only brought him to shrug his shoulders. He could bet there were already enough people stashing drugs in them and she would be none the wiser.

After he locked his locker and randomized the code, he looked at her. "Man, all that frowning will give you wrinkles, girl." Just at that moment, the school bell rang for classes to start. "Well, I will go to my class now."

Annie frowned now even more after hearing his comment on her expression. "Don't cause any trouble." Somehow she had the feeling he would cause exactly that.

"Yeah, yeah. Bye." He waved back at her and left.

Inside his classroom, he sat down on a free chair that no one was using and stretched himself.

Since the teacher was not here yet he tried to gain some short minutes of sleep by placing his head on his desk that was supported by his arms.

But suddenly he felt a poke from his neighbor on the left side.
